Cant afford a house?
Is anyone else having this same glitch where instead of the 20k to buy a house you only have 2k? this is when you start a new game and try to buy a starter home.

Yeah, using freerealestate or familyfunds when the game glitches isn't cheating. And I say that as someone who usually only uses the building cheats (just pretend they are building cheats).
