I had the same problem but I figured out a workaround. The sprinkler considers any room (not outside) I wanted my greenhouse to look more natural and thought removing the floor would work. I removed the door, then deleted two wall panels where the door should be. If the walls are not connecting it doesn't consider it a room. You should be able to place it after doing so. Hope this helps.
