Changes to Build/Buy Mode?

I decided to build for just a little bit today. While I love playing the game, the 'high' point in the current story was met, after some difficulty. So, I thought to myself, I should build another house. I flipped through a Designer Dream Home magazine and found two lots I really liked. Torn between them, I (hahaha) decided to merge the ideas. So, excited, I began to build. I must have bulldozed my progress three times before I lost the desire to build today. Part of my trouble was the fact that I couldn't get out of the overhead view. Normally speaking, I've been able to gaze at the build strait on. It's much easier to place windows and exterior treatments that way. When or why was this changed? Or am I just nutty and it's there. I did notice that when I got into build/buy in the lot my Sim lives in I had the ability to get out of overhead view. So, why can't I do that on an empty lot when building anymore?

If anyone else has this problem, or if you know what I can do to 'fix' this, please share.

    Follow UP: I went back to my active Sim's lot and discovered I could still do the overhead view of the property while in build/buy mode. I also tried out the T key and it worked! I have no clue why I didn't already know this since I have played Sims4 since release, but hey, thanks to you @lori171957 I learned something new yesterday. :)

    Not only that, but a little later in the day I decided to go back to building. This time when I clicked on the empty lot from map view, The camera was in the correct angle. I tentatively began to build, using overview, then was very happy to realize I could now look at the building from the horizontal? angle. At any rate, perhaps something was just temporarily stuck and by using the T on my active lot unstuck it? Scratching my head, but glad it's working again like normal. :)

    I never used the T key either. Must try that next time i'm in :)

    Did you read the February laundry list? There seems to be some serious lagging in BB mode. I did not patch my game since CoL release, so I wouldn't know :)

    Yes, there is serious lagging, hope they fix it.

    No. Guess I missed that memo, LOL. This is the first time I've had this problem. I wouldn't call it lag, per se. It was just weird. Once I left that save and returned, the problem was no more. Of course, now I'm seriously wondering why I can't seem to build anything on a smaller scale …
