My sim is in the journalist branch right now, but I'd like her to be an author instead (I prefer the unlockables). Is there still a way to switch? Cause when I quit her job and look for a new one, it immediatly gives me the journalism branch rather than a new writing career.I tried the Careers.demote cheat as well, but it seems to have no effect.Any ideas/ other people having a problem with this?

Gone through several careers so far, all of them set me to level 9 of the branch I choose, doesn't seem like a bug. I was hoping to unlock all the content, but that doesn't seem possible currently. Also there's at least one aspiration you're unable to complete if you pick the "wrong" branch, Mixology Aspiration requires you go Mixology branch, but the Cooking Aspiration has no such requirement, meaning if you want to complete both, you have to go Mixology branch. Odd that they're making the game more and more restricting... But yeah, I'm hoping it's bugs, not features, and that it will be fixed eventually.

Unable to switch career branches....This is something that would bother me.

The only way I've seen to try both branches without starting from scratch is to get your sim up to the level before you choose the branch and save the household as a separate file. A bit awkward, but better than leveling up again from scratch.

Maybe one of you can help me. I want the novelist career but I don't know if I have to go to work in the writers career and wait for the option to be given to choose that branch. Please help.

in the writer's branch you can choose between "Author" and "Journalist" branch when you've gotten about 5 career levels in. (I don't know if you mean the author branch by the novelist career?)

You can also just write books and sell them to a publisher (using your mailbox) and live off the daily royalties! If you write a book a day it makes quite a good living ^^

It would take some work, but have you tried getting enough demotions to go down to level 4 and then see if you can pick a new branch at level 5? I know that I just read that you cannot switch, but this could be a possible work around. It would be a pain if you are really high up in your level though.
