Chickens and Thunderstorms

Now that I have Cottage Living I wondered... does having a chicken coop outside during thunderstorms cause any problems? Can the coop and chicken be struck by lightning? Please share your experien...

My chickens have been safe in their coop during thunderstorms, but their food has been struck by lightning twice and turned to dust :lol:
