Clubs - next leader

So, I thought I knew how this works, but I was just proven wrong. When leader of club died, I expected the sim listed second to take over. But he did not.

So, I simply wonder how the succession is handled technically? Is it relationship? Or is there specific club related mechanics that I'm not aware of? I use the club system often, but I think I never did play a club as a club feature with whatever social interactions there are among members.

I know the old sim could delete members and then sign off with only the chosen successor left, who would then reassign those old members, but if there is an easier way to control this, I'd like to know :)

  • I've never dug into the tuning files to see exactly what's involved, but I have observed that if a club has an age limit it will favor sims who are not as close to the age limit for the new leader. The same may be true regarding elders getting near the end of their days, it may skip them in favor of a sim who will live longer.

The rule of "the 2nd sim" in the club list really only applies when you have an active sim as the leader and then leave the club, it will always be the 2nd sim in that circumstance. Outside of that situation, it is doing some kinds of logic checks to make the decision.
  • I recommend Scumbumbo's Club Utils mod for maintaining clubs your controllable sims aren't the leaders of.

Setting the club leader via a command line cheat is one of the benefits.
  • Thanks both! So , this must be more complex, the wanted new leader is YA but instead of him the game chose an elderly sim who is just a few years away from death, so it makes little sense. At least I only had to make that elderly sim withdraw from the club and my wanted sim got in the leader seat, and then added the old man again. So it was not more bother than I can cope with. This time.

I'll check out that mod, assuming I only need to activate it on these rare occasions. Trying to limit the number of constantly running mods ;)

The utility mod is one that doesn't run until you use the commands, so light on the system.
