Coming back to Sims4, 2 years later... is insanely intimidating...
I haven’t properly played The Sims 4 in nearly two years… Sure, I still launch it occasionally to install the new expansion packs I shamelessly buy with every release (hey, better than trying to buy them all at once, right?). And to be fair, I did "play" those limited-time events just to unlock the rewards—but that mostly meant starting a new game, jumping into CAS, grabbing a pre-made Sim, picking a starter home, and blindly doing the checklist activities. Thankfully, they’re super simple: “Read a book,” “Go for a jog”—basic Day 1 base game stuff.
Stuff I actually understand. lol
Now don’t get me wrong—I have zero regrets about buying all the expansion packs when I did. But man, the moment you actually try to play after all that time? It’s like being hit with a pop-up info parade and a whole new game layered over what I thought I remember.
All these new UI windows, new cellphone, new dating/wedding mechanics, rent? Death? You know I never even used get to work properly before - BUT at least they have a dedicated bug squashing team now and thats awesome! I love that support for the game EA (although it should have been a given with a live service title...but still thank you!)
Also… WHY DO THE SIMS STILL SMILE CONSTANTLY LIKE THEY’RE IN A HORROR MOVIE?
Seriously, that part caught me off guard again. I miss the more neutral, idle expressions from older games...
Anyway, am I the only one who feels completely overwhelmed loading up The Sims 4 after a long break? I haven’t even touched the chaos of re-building my Sims with all the new CAS options… or figuring out which neighborhood I like the most now?
