I haven't yet. I don't want the animals to die while my sims are away.
Most likely they'll simply 'leave home'. I've had Chickens and one Cow threaten to leave — even when my Sims have been diligent in their care. Spoiled rotten animals don't know when they have it good. :persevere: - So I've decided to test it myself. I got everything in order before leaving on vacation. Animals were fed, clean, and content. Milked the cow and sheared the llama. Collected all eggs. Chicken coop, cow shed and llama shed were clean. Feed level in cow shed and llama shed was full. My bees were calm. My four insect farms were all fed and thriving.

One day of vacation left. Missing her furry friends.

All animals were as I left them. Happy, full, clean, and content. Sheds and coop were still clean. - ConclueNew Spectator

One thing I love about a new pack release is to read about simmers learn from trying. I would probably have skipped the vacation totally, so you were clever taking the animals with you. Now I wonder if we could create a vacation home specially aimed towards farmers, with room to bring their animals :) But then, it would probably not be much like a vacation after all, LOL.
Hm... did anyone test what happens to animas left at home after say 5 days, or after 10? Maybe they will always survive, just be dirty and hungry when we return? We could always pretend that someone is looking after them, but then I'd like them to be at least just slightly dirty.
So interesting I saw your post when I did. This is my first expansion pack other than Dream Home Decorator where I got the packs right when they came out and it's so true and I think I miss that aspect of gameplay where you investigate what will work with what. Right now my long time thought out grocery store is on another level with the new ingredients... and now... I wanna go play a retail household and test if I can sell the stuff. I think learning things when the packs first come out is more fun than watching a YouTube talk about it lol
I kept having an issue with the modular shelving units when stocking them to use in stores. After hours of trail and error I realized the reason stuff disappears into the inventory is because once you stock a fully modulated unit and then make movements/changes to the modulation it never goes back to the original setting until you clear out all the shelves and start from scratch. Took 5 visits with my Sims store to figure out why it kept happening. lol I'm sure you guys have figured this out. The magic of Cottage living has me wanting to talk about it on the forums lol I'm loving it. Especially the worlds. They are stunning. - I'm only reading info about animal death by old age. Can they die from starvation?
Trying to figure out if I need to cut this vacation short so these ladies don't all die. sigh. Poor Bessie. - ADashofAsh90Seasoned VanguardHi all!
I wanted to ask: for those who have taken your Sims on vacation, what happens to your farm animals why you're gone (not in inventory)?
I do have aging off.
thanks! - paigeisin5New SpectatorHmmm....sounds as if folks forgot about vacations while the pack was being created, then didn't make any adjustments that would allow our hardworking farmers to take some time off and go somewhere for a bit of R&R. Where's the cross-pack game play in that scenario? Our fulltime farmers, and our hobby farmers with just a few chickens, aren't allowed to go on a vacation without fearing the animals will run away because of neglect? That's harsh.
- MayaRose1138New TravelerI created a vacation rental in HoB for my sims to go to occasionally on holidays, and I put a llama and a chicken house on the lot for the family to interact with while they’re there. What is likely to happen to them when no one is renting the home?
