No, in fact quite the opposite actually. This thread was mainly about rather or not that large dogs from C & D can guard against wild foxes. But the underlining question is about protecting the smaller farm animals from wild foxes. And not protecting the wild foxes.

I'd spit on any fox that would go near my bunnies! >:)
The foxes aren't looking for cuddles ya know....

But anyway, I had the same thought about dogs from CD too, would be nice if they could actually chase foxes away.

Helpless? The trailer showed a chicken kicking a hapless sim's rear just for befriending some birds. They are not helpless. It wouldn't surprise me if one of the new deaths is death by chicken. Still chicken are fox food so they will need protecting. Just wondering how sims that chickens can beat up are supposed to do that. Foxes>chickens> sims>foxes in a fight makes no sense.

I hope dogs and cats will be aware of the fox, dogs should chase them off the lot but then again I'm not sure if all dogs should do that (I want to see the fox, too!). Maybe dog traits should decide. I'd welcome such random events if they don't happen constantly.

Foxes are known killers of certain creatures. What is wrong with protecting the innocent lives of other animals from the foxes? Have you seen how savage and violent some animals in the wild can be? I am happy llamas can spit on the those pesky foxes trying to kill those poor things. They wreak havoc on chickens and other creatures in real life.

Foxes are predators. Silly humans are making it easy for them to get prey by putting it in a box (yes, a big box, but still a box.) Not saying that people shouldn't protect their livestock from predation by wild animals, but at the same time, you can't blame the wild animals for taking advantage of easy targets.

They're just trying to survive and take care of their little ones too.

1) the Fox in Cats and Dogs is a Dog. (The raccoon is a cat)

2) they've said that they added new animations and AI for the wild (non-pet) foxes in Cottage Living. And that yes, they will attack your hen house.

Now, if the new animations and AI are enough of an improvement, that still has to be seen. But they've at least put some effort into differentiating it from the one in Cats and Dogs.

It is a good question. In the trailer, you see a llama chasing off a wild fox. So I thought that if a llama can do that. Then what about the herding dogs? People have been using herding dogs to guard the live stock against wild predators for centuries. So I thought it can be the same for in the game as well. It only makes sense because we have herding dogs in the game. Might as well put them to work.

No this is a real fox. The gurus confirmed that.
