I hope this time we get decent rewards , the reaper event rewards were seriously lacking , i am another of those who are not interested but i will probably do it just to see what they give out . Plus it means that icon stuck on screen for most of December and quite possibly it not working properly , Last time i kept doing the parts of it and it not registering half the time or resetting to not done

Great. Another event with items I won't be able to receive because it'll be too buggy. Why are they even doing this to us again?

LMAO OMG EXACTLY what i do not want. EXTRA LAYERS of stuff i dont use and slow down the game. !!! Anyways you cant stop progress even when it is counter productive. I always new at some point something i cannot tolerate might come up in this game w updates etc. Thats the thing; you buy a game, and then they change the game. And you no longer have what you paid for. It is not the only industry that does that!
All in all because i do respect the work of programmers, developpers and creative people, im willing to take a look at the next one because the theme is not offensive to me. And i keep hoping they will make it optionnal in the future. They have to !
Thank you simgirl1010 for the great PR work you do we all appreciate it makes everything easier to follow !

So events replace SDX drops.

For those who do not want to participate and/or don’t want the items in their game, here is a solution that puzzlezaddict on the forums shared when the Reaper event was going on.
Please keep in mind that you will not be able to access the online gallery, while the feature is disabled, which wasn’t a problem for me because I play offline. When the event is over check mark the Online Social Features box again and you’ll have access to the online gallery again. Keep in mind that the sims team can always end up giving everyone the items anyway like they did with that first event since the items disappeared when one started a new save. Hoping that they fixed whatever the issue was that caused the items to disappear when a new save was started.
Step 1: Open Options > Game Options > Other > Disable Online Social Features Access by unchecking the box.
Step 2: Quit the game and delete this file—accountDataDB.package which can be found by going to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. (This file contains data from your interim progress on the tasks but not the rewards you've earned.) When I reloaded the game, the Reaper icon and everything else that comes with the event was gone.
I wasn’t interested in the Reaper event because I’m not into that type of gameplay. When I followed those instructions, it worked perfectly.

Ive used this method w the reaper quest and it worked perfectly. I also do not use the gallery much as i have all i need in my library! This is a great "how to" for folks that didnt know about this option. But i am hoping the devs can make it proper and we can still opt-out and continue to use the gallery.

After a couple bubbly strokes....my poor phone, I can finally reply. It's nothing special...
I HATE Christmas music and this time of the year. A lot of old people trying to make it through the holiday (last chance) ...and then they die in Spring.
I Hate the shopppppping and Black Friday.
I do like love other people's enthusiasm for the holiday Season...as long as I am not subjected to listening to holiday radio/shopping music.
I became a shrug in my late thirties and going strong in the forties. NO family. NO holidays.
I'm really happy that you are excited for this because it reminds me of how I use to anticipate Christmas as a child. ♥
I hope you enjoy the new in-game challenge coming this Tuesday. ☺
From the article I posted above,
What about SDX releases, I thought those were to provide free content and updates!
Sims Delivery Express drops aren’t going away, but we're always looking for new and novel ways to deliver gameplay, as well as objects and clothing to add to your Sims' lives. You can still expect SDX releases throughout the year as well as new Events to engage with The Sims 4 throughout the seasons.

If they are just looking for ways to deliver gameplay and free content to the players then why aren't they doing scenarios instead of "do it now or lose the rewards forever" events?

Not entirely. EA is using FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), which is an actual tactic to pressure people to be motivated. No one is being held hostage and forced to do these events. But you miss out on stuff if you don't do them, and you're actively being pressured to do them within a certain time frame or you'll lose out. And that's assuming you can actually make the time to play, because every time we see these events, we also see people who will have to miss out because of one real-life responsibility or another.
The best thing they could do is remove the limited time aspect. That way, people can do them whenever they want, without any pressure and without having to change their schedule. And this would add a form of permanent, repeatable content.
