Creating Pets for Unplayed Households

Right now I'm having a blast with this, feeling really creative

Is this something you do in your game as well?

I know it's a bit weird, but so far I've given the Smiths a green golden retriever named Polly, and the Beakers a robot airedale terrier named Specimen. Just to name a couple. Both households being the Maxis-created from the gallery.

Edit: It's a good way to make certain NPCs show up on pet-friendly lots!

@vincentvega8899 Simply untick the little green plumbob symbol once you are done adding pets (red arrow):

Edit: Just checked - it doesn't make a household "played" if you add a pet when in 'Manage households' :)

  • @PlayerSinger2010 awww Mayor Whiskers just got moved in with Lucky Perkins in my game. He's a sims 3 sim I recreated. He always wore a top hat in sims 3 so I thought they were well suited for each other :)

When I come across a stray I cheat it into my household, take it to the vet or give it wellness treats and an ambrosia treat ( all my sims keep at least 10 of them in their inventory ). Then I go into manage households and move it into an unplayed, protected household. I can't stand seeing poor sick homeless pets, it makes me want to cry.

Do pets from unplayed pet-only households that you create appear in worlds other than Brindleton Bay?
  • I haven't done that quite yet, but it is in the plans.

The robot and patchwork pets are the coolest, imo.
  • This is a great idea. I have a question for you all. If you add a pet to a pre-made family doesn’t it make the household played? I know you can just switch to unplayed but it bothers me seeing the green/light green above the lots. It shows me they’ve been messed with when their green. Takes away from my game play lol. Is there a way to just add them and it stays NPC’ed.... I don’t know if I explained that right, I confused myself lol

@LiELF Well now...that's funny. Great minds think alike, they say ;)

@Simpatsyann If you make a lot dog and/or cat friendly, then yes - Sims (and celebs as well if you give them pets) will show up everywhere with their pets.

    Ahhh, gotcha. Thanks!
  • I love adding pets to unplayed households. The Goth's recently adopted a dog named Whisper, and Don Lothario adopted Mayor Whiskers with MCCC's help.
