Crystal powers are kinda... pointless?

I mean, you have constantly recharge them. And then they work only for 2 days (a bit longer for those rare sims with a trait form the related aspiration).
It's a shame, really, because some powers are really cool. They should have added a way to make the charge permanent, at least for the jewellery items..

I feel like these powers are simular to things you can already get with mods, with systems and skills etc that last alot longer than a few hours at a time, super keen though, will try at somepoint nonetheless!!

Not everyone uses mods though, I love this stuff pack and the crystal features and the aspiration <3 I am glad EA makes similar features for packs sometimes, I don't think it is a bad thing… :)

It is kind of annoying having to keep on top of charging the crystals, however I quite like how in enriches the game play and makes it feel more real. Very witchy to be drawing the energy from the moon each night.

  • It IS annoying, so I use a mod to not have to charge them. That's all it does I believe. Its called No Crystal Grid Needed by Villa Nova and is available on CurseForge.

    But we shouldn't have to

2 Sets, baybeee!!!  lol  I do the same.  Especially the no die Hematite.  Wear one; Charge one  Immortal!
And I make wedding rings using the crystal that reduces relationship decay.

That would be fantastic! I always thought there was something vaguely witchy about the idea of getting powers from a charged crystal. Tying it in with spellcaster charge would complete the link.

  • I think it is a shame it is only for two days as well. But what is worse for me is that the crystal that is supposed to give your sims twins or triplets left me with 3 single baby births. I don't understand why.

I have read about other simmers using the jewellery in connection with the on the lay line lot trait and/ or reward trait fertility and even fertility massages.

But it does not specify that you have to do those things as well in order to have more than one baby, so why only single births for my sim? Makes no sense. It turned me off the playing with the crystals honestly.

If you are on PC, Simularity has a "Longer Crystal Charge & More" mod that makes the charge last 14 days so its a lot easier to manage. And yes, having duplicates and swapping them to charge is what I do too.

The main issue I have is that jewelry can get "stuck" on your sim, meaning it will error when you try to remove it and stay on, or it will show  up visually on outfits you didn't put it on. Fortunately, the swapping for a duplicate also restores the ability to remove it.

Now we just need the new jewelry and crowns from the Royalty pack to be available for crafting. Yeah yeah I know, they never update older packs to work with new content but I can still dream.

  • I honestly mod, that once charged last pretty much indefinitely. But I get the Attuned Trait reward, so my charged decor has to be recharged when I absorb them. So that is when I need to do my charging maintenance.

  • rostsit  I agree, on the whole. I did a bunch of maxing out the skill then making jewelry that would help specific weaknesses/offer protection or amplify strengths, specifically for occult sims. However, I run big households generally, and babysitting the charging process was more annoying than it was worth in most cases. Plus I had one group of sims I got the 'stuck jewelry' bug (saving them to the library/gallery with the jewelry you make on them) and had a dickens of a time fixing that for a couple of them. However, I have found several aspects of the pack that I really like and use a lot:

    • I noticed that if I have a charged piece of jewelry or charged crystal item in their personal inventory and I don't 'mount' it on them or drag it into the world, the charge remains full. Several things I will mention here factor this in.
    • If I really like the look of a piece of jewelry on a particular sim I just make it and leave it on them. If I really want to use the 'power' aspect for them continually, I add that 'power' onto 2 or 3 (or more) pieces of jewelry I have for them (sometimes identical), and I rotate out charging them to try to always have one charged piece on them at all times without having to constantly watch for it. I will also sometimes keep a piece or 2 of charged jewelry for that 'power' in their personal inventory and not mount it on them until the one they are wearing is dead or until a situation arises or is a risk where they may need it.
    • I try to remember to not have the jewelry mounted on them if I save them to the library/gallery. I'm not sure if this 'stuck' bug I mentioned is still a risk. Maybe someone will add that info.
    • I make multiples of certain crystal items, normally in a shape that makes sense with their 'power' (ie: I make skull shaped ones with death protection). These I do keep charged and in their personal inventory or world to be able to pull out or rotate out as needed.
    • Cheat death.
I make a bunch of rings of the same style that I know always has the 'death protection' power. I try to keep a charged one mounted on my sims, but not always by any means. However, I always keep an extra, charged ring with death protection not mounted and charged in each of their personal inventory. I also always keep one of my charged crystal skulls (with the death protection charge on it) in each of their personal inventory. Depending on how an impending death, risk of death, or death occurrence comes into play for my sim or for someone else with my sim, I'm almost always able to prevent, stop, or intervene (by dragging the charged skull into the world or mounting the charged death ring in their inventory). I would absolutely purchase the pack just to use for these purposes alone.
If you need some, I have a room in the gallery with some of these: Don't Die & Be Happy
