- Joanne_SnowRising TravelerI have been waiting for this since the beginning of TS4. It is oddly the thing I am most excited about, even more so now that we know it's in a patch lol. Means I can definitely delay buying GF til a sale comes around
- That's great to hear, it's about time :)
- InuMiroLoverNew SpectatorI like it. Now my business owning sims wont be "jobless bums" or get stressed over not having a job when they own a 5 star restaurant.

So you can make your sim do nothing for money?
No I think you can just register your sim as, say, a self-employed restaurant owner / painter / fiction writer / etc. But they will still have to own and run their restaurant, paint, or write novels to actually make any money from it.
See, one of my (and others') biggest pet peeves was that my amazingly talented restaurant owners would say they're "unemployed" when being asked about their jobs. But now .. NOW they will finally say "best chef in town" instead.
It also means you can decide to make your own little office space, call yourself a "writer", "architect", "painter" or whatever without actually having to be in the associated careers (if they exist). Which, let's face it, is great thing for all of us wanting to play without the little goals every once in a while. - Wow, this is going to be a sizable patch:
- Terrain tools
- New career
- Portable sketch pad (which I'm really eager for -- it'll be easier for my Sims to paint their cute toddlers doing cute stuff)
- Self-employment
- Plus fully rewritten code (Python 3.7) which will hopefully solve the majority of bugs
I might have to hit the local library or somewhere with the Fast Internet lot trait... - Terrain tools

So if you can make up your own job titles, how do skills come into play?
You said it, it's just a title. Gameplay did not change from the way it is now, you still do your own thing on your own terms.- This has been a HUGE thing for me, especially with my ambitious Sims that always want to get a job. This will really change a lot of what I do in my gameplay <3

If it keeps them from showing up in rotational play filling NPC roles, though, and calling themselves "unemployed" when really they raise bees or own a restaurant, that's pretty awesome.
<-- has no employer but is def. not "unemployed".- Sigzy_29New Spectator

The sketch pad is part of the career. It's an unlockable object according to the livestream. There's another "signature object" of the career but we haven't seen it yet.
Also, nothing has been said about a fully rewritten game code. Pretty sure they just re-compiled the game in the new version of python which probably does indicate code erros in a more efficient way, probably even some the previous version wouldn't consider as errors. - Terrain tools
- RoseOfMontanaNew TravelerI am looking forward to this patch and the self employed is just awesome.
