The idea that people with disabilities need to be "cured" is a controversial concept in some communities, and if the dev team is doing their research, they'll know this.

I'm guessing they will simply have the option for it to exist or not exist in the game, rather than to force it in and provide a magical "cure."

You want than disabilities come at a pack or a patch?
If patch, quite sure than will be without uption to exclude it, OR like custom genders, CAS only

I think I read somewhere that the dev team has already said if they do it at all, it would be a patch, not a pack. I'd expect they'd do it like custom genders, as others have expressed earlier in the thread. That puts the control in the hands of the player, who decides what accommodations an individual Sim needs and why.

I also think it'd be cool (though probably buggy and impossible with existing games) if they removed "vegetarian" as a trait and instead added "dietary choice/restrictions" to the info panel like the gender stuff.

And by default sims eat whatever, but if you want you can go in and customize it one-by-one and check off whether they can have like

Meat
- fish
- beef
- pork
- poultry
- fish
- shellfish

Animal Products
- dairy
- eggs
- honey

Beverages
- milk
- coffee
- tea
- fruit juice
- "juice" (alcohol)

Other
- gluten / wheat
- processed sugar

And maybe also a list of specific produce.

And then you can decide what your sim eats on the basis of anything. And it's not labeled so it's up to you if they are refraining for personal or religious reasons or if it's a health thing or what. Create your Hindu sim or your Mormon sim your diabetic or celiac's sim at your discretion.

Basically we need a more robust Info panel, so we aren't wasting things on traits. And if we were updating the info panel anyway, you could then add the options for new walkstyles (adding canes - both walking aid cane walkstyle and seeing aid walkstyle, and wheelchairs), and options of how the sims talks (with voice or hands or both), how sims talk to them, how they read (with eyes or hands), if/how they watch tv or use the radio, how they write/do homework, etc.

It is true that it would involve a lot of new animations. It's not impossible but it's a lot of money to spend making something they couldn't ethically charge for. I'm not counting on it, but I do think it'd be a great addition to CAS.

It's too much of a delicate mine field to go into. Are we going to have magic potions to make the disabled sims able bodied? If so, then it's really an insult to genuine disabled people as we all know that you can't just drink a magic potion or buy points to become normal again. Life does not work that way and it will be rather depressing if the Sims stick to the reality of disabilities such as mental illnesses, which I, myself suffer from...

well too bad...they ARE looking into. It will happen at sometime. They want us "Differently-able" folks to talk with them about what we want. Like I just want glasses to stop disappearing when my Sim-self goes to work.

I think it's in very poor taste if they add some magical cure for a disablity when people struggle every day without any actual cures to particular limitations. It sort of belittles the whole point of life simulator to make this all happy go lucky, like don't worry there is a reversal for the Sim. If they are goint to add anything then they need to consider how some of us feel about demeaning it into cool gameplay to play Sims in wheelchairs or and or look how cool, I cured my Sim! I hope they think long and hard how this makes this all look more like a money grab than proper implementation of life.

I don't want to see people forcing wheelchair bound sims or other physically disabled sims on foundations and then taking away the ramp (there were load of videos with people putting sims in pools and taking away the ladders just to watch them drown). That is something that will happen if we get these disabilities, because people suck.

One of the things Grant mentioned is let's say a wheelchair sim is visiting a sim who doesn't live in a house with a ramp, is the stairs would turn into something between an escalator and a ramp. So that's one fear you have probably wouldn't happen. BTW its seems to be implied that they're adding Real disabilities deaf, visually impariedness and wheelchair ones.
