There's a mod called "Higher Acting Gig Payouts & Royalty Payments" that corrects most of that. A single gig at fame level 5 (yes, fame effects it), acting career level 10 pays more than 30K per gig. Plus, you get royalties for a while also, adding another 30-40K total.
Plus, it reduces the daily wait between gigs. Without going to the auditions, most gigs are the next day or the day after.
I love the acting career also but I can't play acting without it.
