I 100% agree on that. I made a post about it a while ago in another thread. The developers focus way too much on modern lifestyles and trends and barely anything on the aspect of life. All sims shouldn't automatically own cellphones, take selfies, gain fun from technology, etc. There are too many jobs that require the use of a computer and really shouldn't. I'm still disgusted with the fact that in the acting career in GF, there are literally actions on your daily checklist that include posting to social media as if every single celeb in into that stuff. I'm tired of being forced to live in an overly modern world where the focus is only on one young adult sim. I want newspapers, home phones, more antique clothing and objects, blue collar jobs, outdoor activities for all ages, family gameplay, LIFE.
Incorporating all of this trendy trash is going to make this game dated af by the time it ends. Trends are fleeting and my biggest issue with it is that it's also very alienating. Just because something is trendy, doesn't mean everyone cares about or likes it. It's extremely off-putting and ironic for a team that claims to be oh so inclusive to add in so many things a large part of their community can't relate to.
