Do normal interactions really raise Charisma?

So, I've been wondering this for a long time. Every website I go to says that normal Friendly interactions will raise your Sim's Charisma skill, but I don't see the bar filling up with green when they don't use an interaction with the little set of sunglasses. Has anyone actually proven that using normal Friendly interactions works?

Yes, it definitely does. It may be slower on some Sims depending on what traits they have.

@SuperCoolRachael Telling jokes help raise the comedy skill. Although not as quickly as studying it, writing jokes and performing.
