Do you ever cheat a sim's skills for story/character reasons?

Actually, I can't see a YA, let alone an Adult or even and Elder Sim have absolutely zero skills. I have MCCC. I give them a reasonable level of skills. Most of the time, unless it suits my storyline, I don't max out a skill. Really, for me, it depends on the Sim. Play the game the way you desire to play it. I don't see a rule book anywhere. Can't 'break' rules that don't exist. ;)

I use mccc to cheat sims to have skills that I think make sense for them. When I added Chuck and Maya from the gallery I gave Chuck some fitness, DJing and dancing. For Maya I gave her some writing, dancing and singing. In my story for them Maya is level 1 in the social media career and Chuck is also level 1 in the Detective career he however want to be a DJ.

I've also gone and raise the skills of some of the other base game sims and even raised some of their careers as for some it doesn't make sense for them to be living in these big houses but have low level career or little to no skills.

There are sims I don't really play much but for example own an apothecary for my other sims to visit. I cheated their herbalist, fishing, science, gardening, and etc skills so they can create elixirs, sell rare fish, plants and what not. I also did that for a sim to own a fish market for my sims to visit because you can't sell debug fish.

I never thought of raising the premades' skills, or any of the skills for sims I don't play. I'm laying out my new world right now, so I might just go through and make some small adjustments.

No. I have never done this. I have changed a sims look though when they aged up and were ugly as sin.

I cheat the photography skill for all sims because I hate when they come out in low quality and a photo is ruined.

For example, if I want to use a buy mode camera or their phone camera to take a selfie with someone.

Always. It adds a nice bit of depth, fleshing out their strengths and weaknesses, if that makes sense.

Nope i use the house traits for the skills much easier i only use cheat their needs or if need reset them.

That's the way I used to look at it, but then I started thinking how weird it was that adults, and especially elders, start with zero skills in any area. I get it from a "game" perspective, but I don't play TS4 to challenge myself.

I've never cheated my Sim's skills. It doesn't fit the way I play since gaining achievements, leveling skills, collecting, etc. is a large part of the fun for me.
