I don't actually really play legacies, however, I will have a type of legacy planned for my Sims.
I tend to have different family dynamics. So, the set up may already have a husband and wife, or in another family siblings are 'moving' into a world to start a new life. From there I decide what to do with the next generations. if I have a husband and wife, I will usually have them have a big family, and either choose the first born, or the Sim I like the most, and make them the heir. For siblings that live together, they will each have kids, and become the founders to their own individual families. However, the older sibling may keep the original house, and their sibling may move out.
For the chosen heirs, they will live in their childhood home, with any previous generations, unless I move the parents out to retirement. The children not used as heirs will move out, and I will either keep them single, have smaller families, or join an occult. I have plans for some non-heirs to become vampires so that if the original heir's family dies out, they can move in, and take care of their home, until a new heir is decided on.
So, the heirs will stay put in their home, and the non-heirs will explore the world, with some moving back to watch over the family as a member of the oocult.
