- Once every Simweek, I go into manage households to rename townies and give them makeovers. It takes a lot of time but it's so nice seeing well-dressed Sims in my game afterwards!
- vanpelt816 years agoNew SpectatorI will rename & change looks of sims if cheats to create my own versions isn't available (this was something I did with the Get Famous expansion pack at first for different directors/make-up artists/stylists/etc.) If I can create my own via cheats or anything else, I will get rid of the computer generated sims (either by deleting or plopping in my cemetery lot specifically to kill them off).
- No. Unlike most people I love the city living names, before them every female sim I met was a Sally. It drove me crazy. I wish they wouldn't make two households with the same last name though, that really bugs me.
I've noticed I get more names the people on this forum consider "normal" or not "exotic" (?) when I go to other worlds like Windenburg or Willow Creek. Then I get a ton of sims with the last name Fuller.
Also, it's pretty unrealistic to expect sims' names to match their appearance, because if they were to match there would have to be race in the game or something of the sort which wouldn't go over well. - GalacticGal6 years agoSeasoned AceNo. I also don't waste my time going about and changing out their wardrobes, either. I do get upset if I'm not in the home when a Sim of mine is born. I had the eldest child and his wife move out before the baby was born, my bad, and I went into the lot of the only girl with my celebrity star, so I could play them. I got so involved in that household and with Erik's trials, that I failed to check back on the older brother. The game gave his son the name of Hobart. :: Shudders violently:: I finally took the time the day before the patch came, to amend that situation, to age him up to Child and to created a toddler sister in that household, besides putting a larger home on their lot. Then I aged up the twins the third son and his wife had, fixed the body of the youngest son, who is a teen and did my 'maintenance'. After learning that the MCCC mod works okay after the patch, I went ahead an updated. Hey, a very dear friend of mine passed away Monday night and I'm not myself right now. Happens.
- simsimsere6 years agoRising AdventurerI used to but don't really bother anymore. I play rotationally so I have plenty of sims of my own to look after. I give make overs to townies my sims have became friends with and once in a while I also go to manage households and remove households that share the same name... I know it's futile since the game keeps generating new ones with the same names(!). So yeah I would be better off with editing their names instead but they just annoy me too much.
- Yes, my game is in Spanish and it doesn’t generate any Spanish household, only Japanese names and the same 3 last names repeated all over.
- ClassicalSim16 years agoSeasoned NewcomerI rename them all the time and give them makeovers.
- Like many others, I'll edit the name if it doesn't suit the Sim; I use a mod that reduces the frequency of CL names so I don't have to do it quite as often. I will stick with a cultural pattern though -- I'm not going to name an Indian-appearing Sim John Smith. I'll look up names online to find one that works but isn't super long.
- No, I just delete them
- Ever since the city living update I've been deleting or renaming some generated sims cause they all share the same last name, I wouldn't mind if they were unique but there's just a lot of Sakomotos and Ikeadas generated.
