Do you rename Sims? Particularly non-played Sims?

Do you ever need to give a Sim a different name?

Usually most townies that have too many difficult names to pronounce and repeats the same one. Use a mod to help with way less random city living names.

Mostly hit the random button to find them a better name. Too many sins name vavvan aandnt aarvan and last names koybashi and any other Asian name.
  • Everytime a new pack comes out, I start a new save file. I edit, delete, rename, add new sims, change all the lots. Some of them I’ll build myself and most of them I get from the gallery. It really makes for a fresh experience every time. I’ll even create new social clubs from get together, so I have sims gathering while my main sim is out and about. It’s a whole process, but I really enjoy doing it.

No. Unlike most people I love the city living names, before them every female sim I met was a Sally. It drove me crazy. I wish they wouldn't make two households with the same last name though, that really bugs me.
I've noticed I get more names the people on this forum consider "normal" or not "exotic" (?) when I go to other worlds like Windenburg or Willow Creek. Then I get a ton of sims with the last name Fuller.
Also, it's pretty unrealistic to expect sims' names to match their appearance, because if they were to match there would have to be race in the game or something of the sort which wouldn't go over well.

Exactly. I actually like that San Myshuno has more Asian townies. Everyone knows that by "normal" folks mean bland, American/Anglo-Saxon names like "Jennifer" or "Ryan" lmao. I actually find myself changing names to make them more "foreign" or just unique, because I prefer a diverse game.

I think some of us just want to adjust the game to something that’s more reflective of our own everyday life. And I sure as heck run into a lot more Kens in my day to day than I do Kenjis.
  • There were so many I couldn't pronounce! It felt like too much work to go into CAS for ALL of these families and rename them. So when I downloaded MCCC, I just deleted the families with names I didn't like. I thought MCCC would just replace them with other Sims with more normal names.

It did sometimes, but I felt like I kept having to delete so many Sims. Eventually I just downloaded ALL of my houses off the gallery and I set MCCC not to allow homeless sims to move in autonomously.
  • I definitely have. I once had my main household’s cousins have a baby who ended up getting the name of a real life disgraced family member so I rushed to change it. I also do it for transgender sims.
  • Yes. I absolutely change names. I know in the world we live in, its not unusual for a person to be mixed culture and have a name from one culture but look like another. Its just life and how cultural mixing and diversity works. But it does get annoying to have 45 Kubo Itsaki's running round. Or 75 Sven Jergenson's as the case may be. So manage worlds is my friend.

I was going to go on then I noticed that its hard to say that I wanted more diversity in my game without sounding genocidal which was not my intention. So I'll just say, I change my game to be more diverse and leave it at that. :open_mouth:
