Do your sims look like their parents and elder ancestors?

I'm not sure if it's been asked before, but I got thinking today about how the genetics work in regards to appearance. I notice that when my sims have children, typically the child looks specifically ...

I was really happy with how features pass down. I really like it when their kids look like a mix of both parents, though.
