I usually try to have a "vacation" day when I want to focus on skills or want to do a family event and the parents are off of work. When I was younger I used to remember being over joyed when I'd wake up later to usual just to find out that school was cancelled and I had the whole day to goof off. I've sorta trained my mind to be ok with more random acts of craziness in the Sims so if a child is tense the family goes to the park for example. Have you guys ever let your kids stay home?

I do all the time. If I want the group to go on a vacation for a long weekend, everyone gets out of school, everyone gets out of work and off htey go. If I just want them to have a day off to focus on something, off they go.

I let children and teens stay home when they get close to their birthday. Like if they have 3 vacation days available, they take the 3 days leading up to their birthday at home, doing last minute skilling and aspirations. They never take vacation days besides that.Adults are different, of course. They seem to rack up a lot of vacation days, and they take them randomly. Like if they just got a promotion and need a skill, they might as well stay home and gain that skill and get paid, rather than just working. Or if they're getting close to elder and retirement. My Sims take all their vacation days first, then retire officially.

I was thinking about collecting a few vacation days to go on an actual vacation. I'm debating on if they should go to their grandparents house and spend the weekend there or go to Granite Falls. If Grandparents, they'd go in the guest room with blow up mattresses.

I normally don't, I'm really one of this "overachiever, helicopter" simmers, and have my sims dive head in to be the best in school and work. But in a recent game I have my two boys ditch school and go to the Geek-Con festival with their stepmom because they're both genius-type sims who are into geek things, and I thought it would be good for them.

Once your kid has an A, they can pretty much just slack and even skip on school. That's one of the things I wish they would change.

Does anyone let their kids stay home from school or do a 3-day weekend?

I've started using adult vacation days for child care purposes in my legacy family because they can't afford a Nanny yet (or mostly I'm not willing to get one for only one child) and I don't know if I want to trust the free child care to take care of my toddlers lol. When I play on short lifespan and I'm actually attempting to complete the child aspirations I'll use the vacation days to try and complete them but normally I forget they even have them.

When my teens have as many vacation days as they have school days left, then I "graduate" them & let them spend the rest of their time focusing on skills, or just having fun.

Yebb. This. I find it hard to go to B after getting an A. Skipping school doesn't carry a penalty other than a scolding from the message system. But kids & teens get a vacation days as well as adults and I usually use those days for a fun day for the family. Even take the whole kabboodle to Granite Falls for a few days.

I have when there is a wedding that they're part of. It's just nice to have the entire family attend, you know? I'm also very glad our Sim kids can skip school if they're sick. That was a very nice addition by EA. THANK YOU.

Is there an actual way to skip school if you are sick? I just thought you'd cancel the interaction to go to school if they are sick and you'd atleast not get a penalty. I haven't had sick sims yet.
