Does anyone use cowplants in mean ways? Evil sims, black widow, ect.

I was reading a thread on cowplants just now. I usually only play good sims, family sims, farmer, painters, or collectors and I've only killed off one sim. When I got the casino in S3, I played the household with the older man and the young woman that was a gold digger who wanted him to die. So, I walled off the pool and he drowned. I felt bad and brought him back and kicked her out.

Anyways, I was thinking about the gameplay if one decided to play an evil household who didn't feed their cowplants and they were kept hungry right before a party just for meanness. Or perhaps, an evil sim invited someone over to their house when their cow plant was hungry and used the talk here right near the hungry cowplant on purpose. Do they only eat adults? I've not tested with kids/teens/toddlers.

I usually don't play that way, but just for a change it might be neat. I do utilize the bite and smack for toddlers though.

Any of you utilize the cowplant as a death in your games. Any of you play black widows who get the man's fortune by killing him off that way? I'm considering starting a new game for this. Wish they had cemeteries and other options with ghosts and grim too.

No. As others have stated, the cowplants are much less effective in this iteration. An AI controlled sim rarely goes for the cake a second time, or at least before the moodlet wears off. When I feel the need to end a sim I use alternate methods such as Burst of Anger from Vampires or Marked for Death from Jungle Adventure.

You say they rarely go for the cake. Are you sure it happens at all? I remember hearing that the code blocks sims from taking the cake autonomously if they have the moodlet.

Yes, they do take it on their own at least once. I can't tell you the number of times I have seen sims decide that it was a good idea to try to take that cake, and eat it, only to be swallowed up by the cowplant. Serves them right for that stunt. I don't think I have ever seen a sim do it twice, I think that might be where the coding is at.

Yes, I know they take it the first time. I mean the second time, where it will kill the sim.

@OEII1001 I'm happy to know it's possible, at least. So the sim who took the cake died? I'm assuming he/she still had the moodlet at the time.

Again, yes. Both instances occured with sims that were invited to the lot. Both sims had possessed very low hunger motives. However, over 99% of the other sims that fit both categories did not attempt to get the cake a second time. And so, where it is possible that they will die from the cowplant, the reality is that that this possibility is so low as to be statistically irrelevant.
  • Update for me at least. It's been awhile doing this and I tried a club.. to attempt to do this with sims not living in the house. Well they took the first one readily enough but even trapped with no food for a week they don't seem to want to take the second piece in a time frame that will kill them off. I'm disappointed lol... I did milk a few essences though. Not sure I want to touch Mortimer's Essence of Flirtation though.. hmm.
I'm sure in the past I've trapped sims not living in the household and they took it (with much work) but it's just not happening for me now and I give up.
So I guess I have to move them in to kill them off or for essence production. Yep..that'll work.
It's a shame though. You'd think they would take it if they were starving at least.

I have an evill.. herbal woman. She has a cow plant and locks sims in with it :naughty:
  • Kind of dampens the enthusiasm. It is a shame that they aren't more productive. Maybe the devs were afraid people would get mad if the sims had a purpose in the story and was killed off before the simmer wanted them to be. But, to my thinking, a simmer wouldn't always have a cow plant unless the sim wanted it to happen to some extent. Thanks for all the tips and warnings and sharing. It has given me much to think about. Also, good to know about the evil still grieving and how to prevent it. :) I will probably still try it. Probably, there are games to where it does work and for some it never happens, kind of like the aliens in S3 if you didn't put space rocks ect. all around your sim's house. Hit and miss. Maybe. Might be nice just to see what happens. I might get a laugh watching the evil sim.
