I like it so far but I am playing on a really slow pace so I haven't tested everything yet. I like occult and semi historical stories so this is right up my alley.

I hope you enjoy the pack.

  • OK

    So I bought it

I still didn't tried it yet

I watched some YouTube videos and challenged and as far as I've seen I like the world, vibe and clothes

And I really want to try rugs to Royalty

  • Okay, so... I haven't played with everything, but I have been using most of the main features. And I'll start by saying that the pack is not without its flaws and bugs. There are things that seem great at first, but on further inspection, seem hastily thrown together without consideration for the other moving parts and features that came before, or for varying play styles.

For example, the sword in the stone, once drawn, can only belong to the one who drew it and can disappear forever if you try to change the owner. The dynasties have some family tree glitches and seem to be turning some married couples (mostly same-sex, from what I've seen in bug reports) into siblings. Also, some parents are disappearing from the tree and other glitches are happening with it.
When choosing your dynasty preferences, the activities can become overactive, causing Sims to spam the same behaviors over and over, like reading, or playing violin, or whatever, so can get very annoying.
The Masquerade Ball is bugged, so if you try to hold one on a public lot, the attendees don't wear the masks at all. They also tend to show up in random, game-generated outfits from this pack specifically, so they end up all dressing similarly instead of in their formal wear, which makes no sense. I was able to throw a Masquerade Ball at a home residence successfully, but the outfits were still randomized. Very disappointing. Why do we have a Formal Wear category if it's not going to be used??

I haven't gotten to far in the Royalty career yet, but know that it does cause "rivalries", even if the Royals are in the same household. I think it works so that if two Royals in the same world reach the same career level, they become rivals. I'm not entirely sure if this is how it works, but this is what happened in my game in one household.

If you are the kind of player who tends to play just one household with maybe one or two Sims at a time, you might have fewer difficulties. I play rotationally, with many households in one save, so I think the potential for mishaps is higher for me. But the pack certainly has its limitations and railroading features, regardless.

That said, I am having fun with it. I love the world, clothing and b/b, definitely. I'm being a little more tentative and selective with the gameplay though, and I love the Grand Balls and new synchronized Waltz dancing, even with its issues. (I use a mod so I can switch everyone's outfits. Otherwise, I'd probably be more frustrated with this.) I also really, really love the sword fighting and have been giving it to many of my Sims. But know that I'm a fantasy/Occult player, so this suits my play style very well.

In the end, only you will really know what's best for you in your game. I'd recommend looking up some play reviews on Youtube to learn more in depth information to help you decide. 😊

  • It all depends on your theme of gameplay, world, build & CAS.

For me, YES!  I'm a multi-timeline theme player with my Sims 4 game.  This pack says to me, "where have you been all my life".

  • I love it but it is mostly up my alley for my gameplay style.

I play occults, I play fantasy, and play/set up characters.

Dynasties help with collective autonomy, but I have made 1 Sim dynasties also. If a dynasty is Nature-Loving, and Gardening is a set skill, but a Sim Hates Gardening they will not autonomously garden, which is very nice!

I like that a Noble can do daily duties, or go off, and do whatever they want, and still get paid, but they can get demoted! But if you do not want them to get promoted they can't. Locking Sims in titles such as Count Vladislaus Straud.

I managed to do the Anansi Trials, I honestly recommend this for a mischievous, mean or shifty Noble Sims. Because it only changes favour and I had most my nobles favour with commoners except my mischievous/disruptive one. I completed the trials solely to snatch the Simcalibur because my Sim would never in character side with the commoners—to complete the sword collection.

I love the scandal system, and I honestly thought I'd disable it. Social Puppeteer Aspiration was really fun to do.

For storytellers, dynasties have can have you "Ask permission to marry...", you can "Duel for the Heart..." (if the Sim is high enough in the bar/has romantic satisfaction if LS with the same Sim), and it will put the loser's romance bar to "It's Complicated..." without jealousy/mean interactions/reputation lost for the one you are fighting for. Which helps if you like want to have love triangles, but the center doesn't initiate, because you don't want them in trouble with romance issues.

I never buy kits, but I love the Tea Time Solarium  Kit, so I am glad I bought this during the LE time.

As for the negatives, I'd read Sims 4 Royal and Legacy negative thread. | EA Forums - 13095203, which I am also pretty vocal in. And also check out the Bug Forums for the current top bugs on R&L.

If this is not your playstyle, and have little to no plans to use the Noble Career, Dynasties or Scandals, you probably could wait a year for 50%, and hopefully all the major bugs would be fixed by then.

  • I agree with coloncocon that it is worth it, but it is also good to watch some youtube reviews etc. so that you can figure out whether you like it. I won the EP from a giveaway, but if I hadn't I would have bought it, because the early bird items are very nice and the kits are good too. I really wanted to have those. It's a nice bundle.

I have played the new EP and though I haven't done everything, like for example explored dynasties much or tried the secret passageways, I have enjoyed it a lot. The cas and build buy are good, and I like the noble career, sword fighting and kissing frogs 🤭 Royalty & Legacy has enrichened the lives of some of my sims who kind of missed something but I didn't know what. I must say though that I have combined it with earlier packs when I have played it, especially Get Famous, Vampires and Enchanted by Nature, so I don't know what it is like to play it with fewer packs.

    1. If you are FOMO like me and don't want to miss any limited item-- buy it! This time is more worth it with 2 kits (previous EPs don't have this).
    2. If you can wait for a better price, you can wait for 50% in the future (maybe less than a year).
    3. Better decide by your gameplay style and preference. Worth criteria of each person aren't the same.
    4. Watching YouTube reviews, especially gameplay, would help you decide.

For a deeper, honest review, let people who have already played it comment here, as I haven't had a chance to play it yet. However, I like the aesthetic of the world, the outfits, and the build&buy items. For me, it's worth it with just these things. (I always love cultural themes, especially exotic ones)

I just don't have a plan to play nobles and dynasties soon, so I can't have an opinion about gameplay. But I think it would be worth it for people who like to play generational or big family trees.
