Everytime I create a new sim and work hard and get a lot of money and make their lives amazing, they always seem to die of laughter. Every. Time. Especially since I got Get Famous and have had to research the playful emotion. They immediately go into hysteria and immediately die. I don't even have time to calm them down. One time my sim was just "very playful" and i got worried so i went to the mirror to "try to calm self" and then they died. It's very annoying. I know there's mods to not allow sims to die from emotions, but i shouldnt have to download a mod to keep my sims alive. I prefer my game mod-free if possible. Now it's time to restart my game from the very beginning. :) Last time I had a sim die I didn't even do anything playful with him but he has the "goofy" trait and that literally killed him. Luckily after many many tries and time i was able to revive him with the wishing well.

I've been playing for three plus years, I keep my Sims very happy and have only ever had 2 emotional deaths, one of which I had to work pretty hard to achieve.

I don't understand why it's a thing in the first place. I understand death by embarrassment a lil more, but emotional deaths to me are a little out there. Why is there no death by sadness, but there's death from being happy?

For get famous I've decided to take breaks in between trying to do a practice playful emotion. This seems to be working but it's annoying to have to do. I'm trying to find the mod rn that lets me disable emotional deaths but i cant seem to find it

@idkemily MCCC has a very rich documentation page, including installation instructions under the 'help' section. https://deaderpool-mccc.com/#/Once you have it installed and functioning, you can disable emotional deaths by clicking a computer and selecting MC Command (or by typing MC_Settings in the cheat box if you have no computer available), then clicking "MC Tuner"->"Change Interaction Behaviour"->"Allow Emotional Deaths"

@stilljustme2 Hard to do the calm down in the mirror trick when the sim that gets hysterical is not the one you are controlling and offscreen doing autonomous interactions. Hysterical gives you very little time to react before it kills, compared to the other emotional deaths. I can't help but wonder if those of you who never have this problem either don't use laundry, thus reducing available happiness moodlets, or just maintain much more active-control of sims, rotating regularly through them all to keep them more actively controlled. It's playful-while-autonomous that is a problem for me....I've never had a sim die from hysteria while I was actively controlling them.

Does your sim die a lot from emotion? Or is it just me...

It is not just you, it's become a common problem for most of us who play in a way that keeps our sims happy.

Yes that's exactly my problem! I over-care for my sims to the point where they're just too happy. I think death by laughter is ridiculous. Why should your sim die from being happy? I have not have any emotional deaths since two years back. I actually find them hard to get less I make it happen. Usually never gets higher than the middle like 'very' embarrassed, playful, angry.

My geek sim I noticed will get very playful using the new drone. And I tend to not have them around a lot of tech. Combo'ed with that plus listening to a funny joke to winning a video game. Just need to pay attention to what stacks.

Other than just that I've only had one emotional death and another caused by my sim making another constantly angry but that took a good bit of insulting to finding their spouse cheating on them. :#

On another note when I used MCC and got my vampire mad to do a rant BUT it only goes straight to enrage. So was hoping I could get it comets but weird thing instead of dying my vampire aim turned into their dark form and drank uncontrollably from my Sims roommate. :|

I downloaded MCC and put it in my mods folder but i dont know how to use it. i dont even see it come up as one of the mods im using. how do i fix this & use it?? what do i have to do to disable the emotional deaths once i figure out why it wont install??

I never have had sims die from hysteria. I currently have a sim with the goofball trait and he's an actor and he hasn't died on me yet. He's emotion goes as far as very playful and that's it.

I've never had an emotional death -- when I see a Sim is getting close to the line I stop what they're doing and have them calm down in the mirror and that seems to do the trick. I'm also careful to limit some of the emotional items and either keep the aura off or limit them to specific rooms (like if I need to get a Sim playful for writing jokes or comedy routines).
