Dog festival - ideas?

I want to arrange a dogs festival, and perhaps also a cat festival, for my sims. I'm now trying to come up with ideas for the program. My dog owning sim can obviously attend with their dog, and if "dogs welcome" sign works on community lots, I guess there will at least be a few strays, maybe also other siims with their dog. The park at Sable Square in Brindleton Bay might be a good arena.

Not really sure what events/contests/features would work for such an event. Most of my dog owners never train their dog to do tricks etc, but the tunnels etc for training might at least make the park look busy. Is there a way to attract a NPC judge to make things look a bit formal?

Perhaps a section where pet food providers serve "new" pet food, it ciuld be combined with a sales table of some kind.

Pet toys exhibition?

Pet beds for resting?

Hot dogs - meeh ;)

What else would make sense at de first Sable Square Dog Festival?

  • There is no NPC judge. Maybe you could just offer free training? A grooming station aka a bathtub for free baths? There is a stall that sells pet food, maybe you can add that and the pet treats vending fridge. Or organize a cooking class for pet food. Or you could make it into a waterpark for dogs. A photo studio so you could take pics with your favourite pet.

Thanks! I never notyiced the stall selling pet food? I better look around in Brindleton, it's probably there somewhere. Taking pet photos sounds fun!

Instead of the dogs welcome sign, you could use the lot traits that attract dogs and their owners and the one that attracts stray dogs. I don't remember what they're called, but they should be easy enough to spot in the lot trait panel. Maybe this what you meant, but I believe there's also a rug that says dogs allowed? I figured you might be referring ro that object.

If you do have strays on the lot, add a vet table or the vending machine because strays are almost always sick.

There are some deco objects like the pet food bags and the pet treats jars that you could use to at least make it look like a sample/sales display of pet food.

Maybe your active sim can sell hand knitted pet clothing? I don't know if the can be put on the sales table though. And they will just look like packages. But it's worth a try. You'll need cottage living and nifty knitting though.

Thanx! Vet stuff sounds great, I never really used them so it might even be fun to play with them in such a setting.
And knitted pet clothing sales stand if possible! If not, I could make sure that pets brought to the festival are dressed up :)
