Dogs get dirty constantly

This is normally caused by 'bad behavior' like rolling around in their own urine. If you train them not to play in puddles or garbage, you won't have as much of a problem with dirty dogs. Hope that helps.

@mrkyle thanks for that suggestion. While not an annoyance I've been noticing that lately my fur baby requires a lot of baths. :)

The only place I have a lot of pets is in a save game with "premades" from prior iterations. I didn't understand why whenever I rotated around to play a bit the dogs would be filthy. If I took a sim to visit another family that had dogs they spent their time bathing the animals lol. Welp, shouldn't have made those families until I was ready to spend some time on them I guess.

Thanks for the info @mrkyle. That makes sense... same advise I give when people complain of staff not working well ..darn I feel kinda dumb now.

Do we have a cheat to max out training like that? Some families I might not play enough to make it worth it and I don't really want to rely on a mod to make my utopia worlds.

Yes I agree, they get dirty way too quick. Bathing your dog daily isn't even healthy for them. It's really not realistic and one of the reason my sims more likely will have cats than dogs. Not to mention when you make a dog friendly bar, they almost always stink and the whole bar starts waving their hand in front of their face from the smell.

I've also learnt that when they're smelly, if you notice early you don't bath them for long but the longer you leave it the longer it takes

The dogs do get dirty really quickly, but for me it's all the dogs that aren't in your household that are constantly dirty. It makes me feel like I should report Sims as bad pet owners or something.

realistic for strays though and if you're good enough friends with them you can invite them to a lot with a bath and bath them (or for cats, brush them)

Yikes, mine doesn't get dirty nearly as often so I can't share your pain. I know they get dirtier quicker from certain behaviors, though.

Yup it's definitely because of bad behaviour. When my dog rolls in puddles he gets dirty. It is his favorite past time. XD

Rolling in trash or puddles does it. Or leaving the lot, apparently. Lecture them a few times and they will stop (one of my Sims actually PRAISED my dog on her own when he played in the trash last night!!!!).
