The reason vampires and spellcasters have their own packs exclusively dedicated to them is so that they could be fully fleshed out. The whole point of Vampires and Realm of Magic is vampires and spellcasters respectively. But the problem is... people are buying these clearly occult dedicated packs (that they have virtually no interest in gameplay wise) and then making devs nerf the occult gameplay, leaving those of us who want the occults with something that's half-baked and watered down. They're treading on other people's games all because they couldn't skip out on a handful of BB or CAS items.
It's not about wanting supernatural chaos to happen necessarily, it's about having content we paid for nerfed nearly out of existence without any warning. I mean vampires don't even act like vampires and spellcasters only use their powers in the magic realm, so they're essentially just regular sims who have fangs or glowing eyes.
But what about the players (like me) who actually bought Vampires and RoM for gameplay in the first place and don't enjoy spellcasters or vampires using their powers everywhere? I had been waiting for magic-using lifestate from the Sims 4 release date, though I hate that spellcasters use their brooms in the normal world. As I've said, sometimes I want to play with vampires, sometimes I want aliens and sometimes I'd prefer none of them in my current save. Otherwise, there is a situation that I call "supernatural chaos".
This is true for me also @Brinn. I love creepy, supernatural, occult play and I want it... but not in every save or sim family. I also want some control over it. If I'm playing out an alien abduction world/save (which I have) there might not be witches in that save... or at least they aren't evident because they don't use their powers autonomously. I definitely don't want to see autonomous use, because it would devolve into chaos and no control over the game. I'm great with vampires now that we have a way of disallowing them from the lot.. I did have a problem with autonomous break ins. I remember wanting vampires to work in that old story way where they have to be invited across a threshold first actually. In some ways that's what they have provided us with the door locks. So if they nerfed them they can bring them back since we have a way out.
It's about options and toggles or objects that determine whether or not that save or lot has that gameplay (like the way it's done in laundry day).
I'm definitely getting this pack and I'll play the heck out of it, but do I want my lots to become autonomously haunted? Nope... but this isn't going to happen. I have to chose a haunted lot and I'm happy that I have the choice.
It's also not black and white... oh realistic players are to blame, story tellers are to blame ect. A lot of players play in multiple ways. I know I can be a supernatural player, a realistic player, a deviant player, a story teller, a play the game the way it is player, ect.
Mostly I'm not a chaos player because I do want some control to a lot of control.. if you take away all control I'm gonna have a complaint or something to say about it.
