Double wedding

I'm planning to wed two pairs of very close neighbors sometime soon.
My plan is to gather the main characters in a temporary household to keep them controllable: Pair A, one spouse's parents, Pair B, spouse's father, bride's daughter.

Instead of throwing a party, I was thinking to summon the guests via two or three temporary clubs with wedding themed activities. I had three club outings active at the same time before, there seemed to be no downside to this.

The wedding lot is a steamboat from the gallery that they rented for this occasion. I noticed generic lots aren't as private anymore as they used to be, so what lot type would you suggest? In any way the boat can get fenced in to keep townies away from the action, I suppose.

My biggest question is, can I wed the two pairs simultaneously? Place two wedding arcs, pause game, click marry pair A, unpause for a second, pause again, click marry pair B and unpause?

Has anyone done this before? Any tips to share?

  • I never tried, so it would be interesting reading how it will work.

But, I would expect the game to run one wedding at the time, because the arch does trigger music and confetti etc, and I don't think it was designed to overlap.
  • My only experience with trying to have things happen simultaneously, is aging up twins. The game won't allow it, as the aging Sim has to do that spin around and then depending on the age you have to select additional traits. With a wedding you don't have that, per se. Give it a try, what do you have to lose? You could always do a Save As, first, in case things go terribly wonky. Do let us know if you're successful at the nuptials. That would be cool if other players have sibling Sims who want a Double Wedding. :) Good luck, sounds like fun!

I've never had a double wedding before, but my game has a ton of twins and I always age them up at the same time, never have had an issue with them not doing it simultaneously, other than because one wasn't as close to their cake as the other so it caused a bit of a delay.

So as for the wedding, I'm not sure if it would work or not, but I really don't see why not. The music might overlap, yes, but there's no reason they shouldn't both be able to marry at the same time. Just hope there isn't any lag or that one is further from the arch, because then you're more likely to see a delay.
There's also the fact that Sims get the automatic action in their queue to watch the wedding, so you'd have to make sure the wedding parties aren't trying to watch each other get married.

You're right, a test run with just two wedding arcs and the two couples would be for the best. I'll do that after today's lifestream.

    @DevilNDisguise
Good point about that watch wedding action. I play without free will, and get some of those pushed actions, but not all of them. Can't remember on top of my head if the wedding one appears for me or not.
  • Good news, the principle is sound.

I did three tests and during two of those there was a slight delay between the two couples. During the second test they were in sync. First and third test it looked like this:

All four sims started standing as close to the wedding arcs as possible before I gave the command and the game was paused.

Music: Only the track for the first couple was played. When the music stopped for the first couple, it also stopped for the second.

Household members (no free will): No auto-watch action was queued.

Summoned club guests: Didn't watch the ceremony. I hadn't placed chairs for the test though, maybe they'd sit and watch if I did.

I usually just get them as close to their cakes as possible, then pause the game and load up the actions. :D Unpause and out the candles go together!

Cool! I will give that a try. Thanks.
  • I have just done that recently too!
