Double wedding
I'm planning to wed two pairs of very close neighbors sometime soon. My plan is to gather the main characters in a temporary household to keep them controllable: Pair A, one spouse's parents, Pair B,...

My only experience with trying to have things happen simultaneously, is aging up twins. The game won't allow it, as the aging Sim has to do that spin around and then depending on the age you have to select additional traits. With a wedding you don't have that, per se. Give it a try, what do you have to lose? You could always do a Save As, first, in case things go terribly wonky. Do let us know if you're successful at the nuptials. That would be cool if other players have sibling Sims who want a Double Wedding. :) Good luck, sounds like fun!
I've never had a double wedding before, but my game has a ton of twins and I always age them up at the same time, never have had an issue with them not doing it simultaneously, other than because one wasn't as close to their cake as the other so it caused a bit of a delay.
So as for the wedding, I'm not sure if it would work or not, but I really don't see why not. The music might overlap, yes, but there's no reason they shouldn't both be able to marry at the same time. Just hope there isn't any lag or that one is further from the arch, because then you're more likely to see a delay.
There's also the fact that Sims get the automatic action in their queue to watch the wedding, so you'd have to make sure the wedding parties aren't trying to watch each other get married.
Wow, it's never worked for me. You must share your secret. ;)
I usually just get them as close to their cakes as possible, then pause the game and load up the actions. :D Unpause and out the candles go together!
