@mmoblitz Absolutely! In fact I was waiting for a pm from someone who had the opportunity yesterday to try the pack, someone whose opinions about the game are very much mine and that absolutely matters. I value LGR’s reviews, but at the same time I know he’s a different kind of simmer than I am so I always take that into account. I don’t have the patience to watch Let’s Plays unfortunately and if I did I wonder if it would help me. Because it doesn’t work for me, figuring out whether I like doing something when someone else does it.
If I can I’ll wait for a sale (I bought two Sims 4 EP’s for half the price and Vampires in fact was gifted to me <3 ), but I can also be impatient. If I’m curious enough I just buy. As for the message you mentioned, I don’t think EA really cares whether we pay full price or wait for that sale ;)

Yeah but this game did not need to be played to know I'd be disappointed. I only had to see the number of lots to know that. I was already sure I would be thrilled with the acting - I watched every video made about the acting career and it was precisely what I wanted in that respect - but 6 lots wth most already being lived in - just no way. That is fine for a vacation game pack - and maybe even okay for packs of vampire - but for one of the world largest most populated AMERICAN Seacoast cities to be represented by 6 lousy residential lots with only 1 lot for my sims to use. I never use cheats, I never bulldoze or remove Maxis sims or most of Maxis lots. Never have in 19 years, so I technically had 1 one lot - how do I play in one lot? - I did not need to play or buy it to see this as a major fail no matter what other greatness it has, as the lack of lots would always be an issue for me - regardless.
I am old school, a 19 year vet of the Sims as I played first in November of 1999 testing the game for Will Wright, and have a way of playing since my beginning - that Maxis obviously doesn't any longer respect, even though they allowed us to play rotationally - then give me one lot to put my Sims in. How does that even make sense? I can't add any new businesses - no spaces. This is not a gp yet it sure has the values of a gp where we usually get one lot period and no place to add businesses - well if it looks like a gp and acts like a gp - then why is it 40 dollars?
I have a huge beautiful world with lots of indepth game play in JA - no places to add businesses , and several lots with empty houses - but it's a VACATION gp so I can play one family at a time there anyway, but I expect that in a vacation world - not an ep. Heck I would have liked all those empty houses in DSV from JA even- at least my sims would have somewhere to go to live. Ironically in the town I can only put one family it offers several empty house for my one family to choose. How ironic is that? Yet the EP where I could move all sorts of families has one affordable lot. How can I make sense of this Maxis? No I don't need to buy or play it when it makes no sense without ever stepping foot in that town.
Maxis seems to forget many of us old schoolers enjoy playing the Maxis people as well as our own - as most of us always did - they are not fan favs for no reason and why even the ones Maxis doesn't bring back - we are the people who do bring the Maxis sims with us to each new series. It's how we play - We like the old ones and learn to like the new ones and we intermingle with our own Sims. That how the Sims has always been for many of us vets. Maxis needs to remember that and new players need to stop telling us to tear down and move out and bulldoze Maxis stuff - you do that to some of us long time players it is no longer the Sims. We might make some of their homes updated, and dress them up - but they are still our same old Maxis long time game friends - even if you don't play that way - don't suggest we shouldn't either - as that's the way many of us started playing the Sims and still do. They are like old friends and new ones are like new friends - they are as much a part of our game as our own sims are and they all need a place in our worlds - especially some of our own sims with Maxis new ones. Where do my sims get to live in DSV MAXIS? Where is the 5 lots I needed for the 5 households I had been grooming for DSV before you decided to reveal the pitiful number of lots last. You knew it was a fail - why else show it last? Pretty sorry not to even allow us 5 empty affortable house or even empty lots or maybe even apts could have solved the problem. LA has plenty of apts - you sure as heck represent that with all the fake ones in DSV - the least you could have done was make a couple of those high rises the real deal. What is the point of the fakeness? This is not a movie - it's a game. Or supposed to be.
No I did not need to play the game - the disappointment was easy to see and not easy at all to live with in a 40 dollar supposedly triple A game.
I agree about JA’s beautiful world, but I don’t see any in depth gameplay in there tbh. I played it and after a few hours of fun (exploring the world) I bumped into the gameplay and that was it. Such a let down. It genuinely felt like a slap in my face because for the first time I was enjoying Sims 4 and that felt awesome. It lasted 3 hours. So if it’s the other way around in this pack (meh world but great and actual in depth gameplay), I’m sold. The problem is, there really is just one way to find out and that is playing it. I see many people stating the gameplay in GF is awesome, I see others declaring it’s a grind. Who to ’believe’.... (quotation marks because they’re all telling the truth, their truth). At the end of the day there’s only one person in the whole wide world who can decide whether a game or a pack is good and worth buying: me ;) (and that goes for everybody)
