I've successfully pulled it off with toddlers at the table. Have an adult feed the toddler first, then grab their own plate. You may have to tell them to sit to keep them from wandering off. But a group chatting before they eat might all stay in the kitchen and ist down on their own. At least that's how it's worked for me.
