I've not yet fully explored this great feature, except having a few families create a recipe without really seeing it in a bigger picture. These recipes are not only brilliant ways to "cheat/comfort"...

The effect applies to the food not the lot or household and anyone in the household can cook it (if they have the cooking skill for it) and also unlock new special touches because the recipe book belongs to the entire household.
