And don't get me started on the upgrades. They do nothing. I get fires on the fireplace with it "fireproof" and stuff still breaks every 2 minutes, regardless of upgrades. Upgrading does nothing. I've literally had an upgraded washer and dryer break 3 times each in my one week rotation with a family. I'm so over it.
The handiness upgrades have been working fine for me.
Anyway, apparently there's a cheat to toggle fires on and off if that's how you would like to handle things.
fire.toggle appears to work. Will not extinguish existing fires.
Can't confirm or deny whether it is currently working, though.
And, my biggest complainant, atm, is the campfire and dryer (which if you keep lint free, which I do now, is no issue. So it's really the campfire)... those are not upgradable... far as I know.
Maybe it's my longterm on-going save, but as this point, I have invested too much time and energy and all my sims lives are so intertwined, I refuse to save them to the library to start fresh and hope a "fresh save" fixes any issues.
I will certainly try that cheat, cause at this point, I'll take anything I can get to stop the fires. It's not like I have a fire every once in a while. This is a constant issue in my game. No matter which household I play. I do appreciate that. I would never have thought to look for a cheat! Thanks! :)
Doesn't stop me from believing that they should bring the reward trait back, still.
ETA: Isn't the fireplace and dryer the only things you can "make fireproof"? I didn't think there was an option for fireproof on the stove.
No problem, I hope it does still work. You're correct about the stoves, there is no fireproof upgrade for them. I suppose I hadn't noticed because stove fires are an extremely rare occurrence in my game. I did have my dryer catching fire nonstop before I upgraded it, though. As for the fireplace, I think it's still capable of lighting surrounding things on fire when they're too close, even after it's upgraded. (Like if I have a coffee table with flowers on it directly in front of the fireplace, it can still light the flowers on fire even if it's fireproofed)
