For My Fellow Micro-managers ...

Do any of you have a routine for your sims or sim families?

Like for example in the mornings, I have my sims eat breakfast > go to the bathroom > take a shower > brush their teeth > begin the day. And at night, depending on their needs, I have them eat dinner (usually as a family and I have one of the kids set the table), brush their teeth (and shower if they need to), brush their teeth and then head to bed. Anyone else stick to a routine or is it a free for all or an on-need basis?

My families also have routines. But it dépends who I'm playing with.

For example, I have a single father who wakes up at 5:30 am to make breakfast for his kids, then wakes up his daughter and tells her to go eat while he bathes his toddler son, etc.

In another household, the teenage son always goes back to sleep until 7:50, then freaks out because he's late to school and tries to hurry up while his mom yell at him.

In my religious family, they "pray" the Grand Llama every morning (I actually just click "view" on the llama toy). And they go to the Llama temple every tuesday and thursday morning at 5:00.

I try to make it unique in every household so that I don't get bored.

Haha that's more of a creepy cult :D It was a funny read.

Reminds me of Sims 2 Strangetown for PSP where your sim has to join or do some ritual to the Bovine Master, Beelzebeef, a cow cult. Good times...
  • Mm no. No routine.
Just keeping the needs up, doing aspirations and learning skills, doing work related things. Sometimes I let them have a nice day doing something fun or relaxing or cute with a lover/friends, kids.
  • I always intend to have a routine - get up, have breakfast, take a shower, chat, go to work/school, finish up homework & school projects, play games together, have dinner, sleep.

But if I'm being honest, the larger the families, the more often I shift-click my way to household happiness (although I only do this in the mornings, never at night). So I guess the only routine I 100% stick to is the fact that all my sims must get a full night's sleep every night - so they tend to be in bed by 1 am at the very latest, and kids by around 10 pm.
  • Micromanager here, but no routines for my sims.

The only semi-routine I stick to is Eat->Toilet->Shower/Bath in that order, because eating used to tank bladder and using the toilet used to tank hygiene in Sims 1. In the later game the loss isn't as pronounced anymore, but once learned it cannot get un-learned easily.

I pretty much do the same things you listed in my families. My single households of course have less of an evening routine - usually it is pick the produce from the garden, take a relaxing bubble bath, and then do what ever skills they need for their job. Have a light dinner, brush teeth, go to bed. But that is mostly on work days.
  • My Sims usually manage to have time to eat breakfast and chat for a while before they leave for school or work. What they do before leaving depends on what mood I want them to be in - Confident, Focused, or Inspired. I don't think this really matters anymore, but it's a habit.

All of my Sim families have a garden so gardening has to be done, usually after work or school. Evenings are spent doing homework, writing in journals, or doing whatever work task they have. When there's a child or teen in the family, I try to have the family do Volunteer work at least once a week. Sometimes I forget though. Generally, evenings are mostly for social and fun activities until it's time for bed. When I'm playing a Vampire then evenings are for skilling.

Very frequently, the game has other ideas and throws my schedule completely off. Such as when a child or teen starts a phase, a teen comes home Mortified or Enraged, Dad or Mom comes home from work Tense or Uncomfortable, or someone starts a fire in the kitchen. Sometimes these spontaneous types of events can be pretty interesting though.
  • Some of my sims have neat routines because of their work schedule, but if it's the weekend and they are building skills/aspirations or if they are unemployed or working from home, chaos rules and every day they make things differently. Pretty much like real life haha
  • 1. Wake up early.
    2. Jog.
    3. Shower.
    4. Brush teeth for the Confidence boost.
    5. Quick meal cereal.
    6. Coffee to top up energy.
    7. Go to work.

I’ve found this to be a very effective routine for single sims.

Mine's very similar, but my Sims do yoga first thing and then garden-tending (if there's time - it depends on whether they have to work and when). They get enough confidence, so I'm afraid no teeth-brushing for them (eww, I know). Shower, quick meal if going to work or school (since they will generally fill up at lunch and I like to keep my Sims fit and slim). Toilet, shower and a full meal if not going to work or school.

After school, my kids do an hour on the monkey bars to raise fun and fitness, and then do their homework. Ideally, mum is home to help with the homework and extra credit, so it's done before dinner at 9 pm (dinner is always at 9 - that seems to be the best time to make sure they don't wake up hungry at 3 am). I work on their social bar during dinner, then the kid clears the plates and sets the table (manners) and the mother puts her to bed.

Of course, it's always the day the kid brings home the extra project that the toilet breaks.
