I hope a modder permit penthouse to become multi family rental residences- as it would be perfect and what I always wanted.
Assuming they did not sit down and decide to allow exactly 99 units, but that it is technically possible with any 2 digit number, 99 being the biggest number. So, with the cheat this also covers for 10 units, which is not so silly ;) - Artie_ATH2 years agoSeasoned AdventurerI think it's good to get some more detailed information now. So the map is as well confirmed with its two neighborhoods. To be honest, I was hoping that there was just a third neighborhood missing in the leaked map, but well. I don't really mind the lot's size but I can see that some might think the lots were too small. I also expected the Tiger Sanctuary to be a rabbit hole, so this news don't disappoint me.
But why can't the snoopers find out some secrets? That would have added a lot of fun I think... for example having a Sim who is cheating on their partner and the snooper finds it out and is talking about that to the other neighbors? Or a Sim having mold / bugs or whatever in their apartment and the snooper... well you know, is gossiping around. I was really planning to have such scenario. :disappointed:
Another thing I am also still wondering is: can we choose our own created Sims as tenants when playing the landlord? I want to play both, tenants and landlords but I only play with my own Sims, I NEVER play with any pre-made characters and those are all kicked out first, before starting a new game (they still show up in the game, and that is totally okay, I just don't want to play with them and I don't want them as NPC tenants - and classmates - so I really hope, that won't happen). - I don't understand why penthouse lots don't work?
I mean its just a lot on top of a building?
we could make those all the other lot types in the game why not this new lot type?
I somewhat understand sulani waterfronts cause water is tricky
and I understand apartments cause we couldn't change lot type for those to begin with
but I don't understand when penthouse lots are just your usual lots but high up
has it something to do with routing? I am confusion
RIP my plans to make uptown penthouse lot useful
and RIP also to the idea of using those University Dorm buildings :( - GrumpyGlowfish2 years agoSeasoned AceWhile the 99 units per save revelation seemed like a bummer at first, I'm not too bothered by it personally. I don't think I will even build that many residential rentals, and not all of them will have six units. With my current plants, I'm at about 15-20 units. Sucks for everyone whose plans have been destroyed by this, though. I wish such important information was revealed sooner.
And it really surprises me that we can't build residential rentals on penthouse and beach lots, considering that we can have every other lot type on them. Not that I necessarily need it, especially in San Myshuno which has enough apartments as it is, but still. I wonder why that limitation was put in place. - Simmerville2 years agoLegend

I think there is at least one beach lot in Sulani that is not touching water - Key Island? Or maybe I'm wrong. I would love building a beach hotel, and it's a pity if this can never ever be done in Sulani, not even if we get a future hotel pack. - GrumpyGlowfish2 years agoSeasoned AceYes, there are several lots in all neighbourhoods of Sulani that don't touch the water, and those will probably work just fine with residential rentals. Not being able to build them on a beach is sad, but how about a volcano rental instead?
Edit: I just remembered that one very long lot on the Tartosan beach that doesn't touch the water either, but is close enough to it that it could create such an illusion. Maybe that would be a worthwile alternative for a beach hotel and the like. - PhilxSims2 years agoNew Veteran

Not strictly true, you need to look at the bullet levels:How many units can be contained within a residential rental?
* 6 Units can be made in a Residential Rental
* Are there cheats to change this cap?
* Yes! bb.increaserentalunitcap on/off
* There is a max of 99 Units per Save.
I.e. the cheat increases the maximum number of units in a Residential Rental, however no limit is implied with the cheat. A limit is however given for a save. - leucosiax2 years agoSeasoned Ace

@PhilSims a guru posted it in the thread a couple od days ago with an image of a lot and a bunch of tiny boxes to illustrate. the cheat allows up to 99 but that is also the maximum for the save. So even if you made a rental with 99 inhabitable units, that would be it for your game.
We have 24 worlds. I would seriously imagine in every world, would be nice to have apartments we designed ourselves.
Limit bothers me less than the animals sanctuary and penthouses not possible to build on. Also the activities on such a beautiful island, I was hoping it would be more like Sulani with boats, and even get more progressive with family boat tours. - leucosiax2 years agoSeasoned Ace@PhilSims https://youtu.be/VcAzUEH-rng?si=DwE4_89JWZ6DorOY pixelade was unaware of the save limit at this time but he shows the image sims guru ninja posted here

The cheat does not allow you to build up to 99. The cheat allows you to build more than 6 units on a lot. The maximum number of units per save is 99 irrespective of whether you use a cheat or not. If you care to use all those 99 units on one lot, so be it, but you are hitting the save maximum of 99.
And for info the image with the keys has less than 99, count them yourself!
