Gameplay question about journey to Batuu

Thank you for asking because I’m also wondering about activities that children can do. I have an idea for a story about a half alien child who is having a hard time fitting in at school. Her mom brings her to Batuu to show her that it is a place of acceptance for everyone, and one of the little droids becomes her best friend. But if I can’t tell that story because children can’t go to Batuu, then I probably won’t buy the pack for a long time.

Also, this is off topic but does anyone know whether the robot bartender in Batuu can be used at other bars? Is it available in build/buy? That would be cool!

I haven't tried it yet but yes I assume you can do as you normally do when going on vacation its a vacation world.

I can confirm that pets stay at home. My Alien, Spellcaster and Servo went and tried to bring their robot cat but he was left at home. His needs seem to be frozen so he hasn't gone into distress or anything, which I was worried about, so he's fine.

I haven't tried to bring any children or Toddlers.

Thank you for checking. Did the servo look alright on batuu? With all the outfit restrictions on batuu, I wondered how that would go.

I brought two Sims and a Servo to Black Spire. They can hang out together, play Sabacc in the cantina and get food, etc. When it comes to missions, each Sim has to complete them on their own, from what I can tell, but I still had them all go together to the First Order area for my main Sim's mission. So I'm playing it in a way where one of my Sims is the "hero" character and my other two are the support cast. I believe I can just switch over when I want a different Sim to be the "hero" but I'm not sure if they are all going to be allowed in the Resistance area. I haven't played that far yet.

Only one Sim at a time can use the food rabbit holes because the menu pops up to select what to eat (though you have the option to get a serving size of 4) but the Sims can sit down to eat together either in the cantina or in a little area with picnic benches. Every new food a Sim eats is learned so they can cook it later.

I'll have to check about accessories on Batuu. They might be limited but I can't confirm yet. I think they are, because my Spellcaster was designed to be an Android but I had to pick a new outfit for her and I noticed that her face markings were gone. (I use the RoM starry face sparkles from the "face" makeup section). However, the golden teeth I gave her stayed.

It's also important to note that the CAS.fulleditmode cheat does not work when you're in Batuu. I tried.

You can take children and toddlers with you to Batuu. Unfortunately, there's not much reason to. I didn't have a lot of families in my tray that had toddlers, but I did have one that had a teen, a child, and a toddler, so I put them into the game and had the teen take the child and toddler to Batuu.

I didn't think to check if children can use the Star Wars aspirations, but I suspect they can't. Toddlers don't have aspirations, so that's right out. And the missions are Batuu-specific jobs, so only teens and up can get missions.

There's no playgrounds or anything like that, so toddlers and children can pretty much just do social interactions or dance, at least without modifying the lots.

But you can modify the lots. The bar in Oga's Cantina has a bit of space behind it that's just storing "junk" decorations. I moved that junk around and put in a basement with stairs behind the bar leading down to it. I didn't fully build out the basement, but to make sure my sims could get there I put an item for them to interact with ... the children's violin.

The entire build/buy catalog is available in Batuu. So you can't really have a Star Wars experience for children and toddlers, but if you modify the lots you can add some activities for them. Or you can make a series of rooms and beds under the cantina for sims to stay in rather than using the rabbit holes.

The lot in the Resistance hideout is a camp in the forest, so it might also be a good place to put some monkey bars and swings and other outdoor things for the kids to do.

Honestly, I think the biggest flaw of the pack is that they didn't stop to think what it might be cool for kids to do in Star Wars. But that's been a running issue with TS4 in general, that all of the gameplay is centered around young adults and not much thought is given to what might be interesting for other age groups.

You can take your spouse with you but I would suggest that you do one at a time because of the missions especially if you are doing one with one and one with the other. I based my two star wars characters on the two my boyfriend and I play on SWTOR. She is a smuggler and he is a jedi so he goes with the resistance and of course mine goes for credits p.

Star wars resistance is really not situated for kids if you stop and think about it. They may have to move on a moment's notice.

I was just about to suggest trying this cheat. Too bad it doesn't help on batuu.

Realistically, sure. But in both Star Wars and the Galaxy's Edge theme park, kids get mixed up in adventures all the time. In the movies and TV shows there Anakin, Cindel Towani, young Boba Fett, all the younglings that Anakin killed, Baby Yoda, etc. In the park, well, if you watch the special on Galaxy's Edge on Disney+ there's a scene with Rey having a group of kids join the Resistance. What you don't see is a doofy-looking white guy in his mid-40s joining the Resistance in hopes that he can impress Rey and maybe get some alone time with her later. Because I wasn't there when they were filming, sure, but also because it's an experience meant for kids.

I doubt there's anything in any of the game missions that involves actual peril to life and limb, so at least in-game they should be perfectly kid-friendly.
