Gardening glitched?

My sim has planted a bunch of seeds and they grow as they should for a while, but now they keep reverting to the first plant stage. I never get to harvest anything wich is kind of annoying. I have most of the plants sheltered but it does not help. Anyone else got this problem? :/

  • It's been completely broken for me as well, they revert back to the first stage all the time. I'm not sure if it has something to do with Eco Lifestyle.
  • I don't know if mine is glitching generally speaking, but I foolishly bought the Seasons expansion pack in the latest sale, and now my huge income that many of my Sims get from their gardens is completely down the drain. I worked out that you need to do your planting indoors so that you can still grow things out of season - as such I started building glasshouses. But I'm not getting anywhere near the same yields - what is that about? And is it fixable?

I suspected I shouldn't have got Seasons. For my kind of gameplay.... I was right. But everyone seemed to love it so much, so I thought I'd give it a go. I'll go with my instinct next time (nobody is going to convince me to buy Eco Living, in other words lol).

And yeah, there was one household where I think it was a glitch rather than my new addition of Seasons, where the household lost all their plants and had to regrow them in the subsequent days.
  • It happens to me only on certain lots, for example The Summer Home lot in Windenburg and on Straud Mansion in Forgotten Hollow. Every time my Sim travels out of the lot and comes back the plants get reverted to either dirt piles or sprouts.

Some lots, for example Potters Splay in Willow Creek work perfectly with garden, at least for me. My 100 baby challenge family lived in Potters Splay lot for a long time and their plants were fine the whole time, but when they moved to The Summer Home lot and the matriarch traveled to another lot and came back all the plants had reverted to dirt piles. They grew back, but as soon as she traveled again, the same thing happened.

Seasons increases the frequency of harvest for most plants but offsets that by reducing the size of the harvest. All plants on the active lot and in the surrounding neighborhood will produce a harvest at 5am every day, if they are in season and fully grown. However, most plants will no longer produce 10 harvestables per plant. Some of them only produce 3 harvestables per plant. In addition, sheltered plants always produce smaller harvests than unsheltered plants.

The best option might be to find a plant with a large harvest that's always in season, then splice it with one of your high-value crops.
  • Same thing is happening to me and it is very annoying. I hope they fix it soon.

This bug is almost a year in the game and it's bothering me to no end. Most of time I just cheat my plants back to the state they
where. (shift click on the plants with testing cheats on) Come on fix it already Maxis gardening is no fun with this bug.
  • I never installed Seasons and my gardens have been glitched since it was released. I have plants and trees turning brown but they don't need water and my game doesn't have seasons. I have plants and trees resetting to dirt mounds. I have fully grown Cowplants either reverting to seedling form or going underground where you can't see them. I can usually get the Cowplant to reappear by putting it in the household inventory and then taking it out again. Seasons was released in 2018 but gardening is still wonky. Nice job guys. At least someone at Maxis knows how to recolor artwork to make it "relevant."
