Gardening Mishaps!

I have read about how gardening has gone all wacky with the latest patch. Then I experienced it for myself. I deliberated whether I should have my Sim harvest certain plants and trees that were ready, but ended up choosing Water All, instead. Upon her watering the entire garden, plant and tree, one after the other retreated into the soil upon being watered. :open_mouth: Yes, they became mounds of the newly planted. I determined I wasn't going to make that mistake again. I was going to allow my Sim to harvest certain fruits and vegetables and then Water All. I have waited all of this time, too, just for the trees to become fully mature and bear fruit. And the plants to do the same. However, even though I had loaded up her queue, selling some items, and harvesting others, she was still busy playing the Don't Wake the Llama with three of her siblings. What else do Sim kids do on a Saturday afternoon, right? I canceled out the game, but before she could come downstairs and get to the green house, who shows up, watering can at the ready? GAAhhhh. Her mother. Dang her into the eternal pixalated fire! She got to the cherry tree. :'( I wanted my Sim to be able to plant that after she got married, too. Can I twist her mother's arm off? May I please bulldoze the watering can? Or, better still I should lock the door to the green house only allowing my Sim entrance. Then she can play a full game of "Don't Wake the Llama" with her sister and two brothers in peace.

If you haven't guessed, I'm so angry right now I could chew nails — and I don't mean the ones on my fingers, but rather the ones you drive into a wall.

EA, please, please, PLEASE fix this bug.Thank you.

There's sort of two reports going on in the same thread, scroll down a bit to hit the "me too" on the one that plants turn into dirt clumps:
    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Plants-shrink-after-harvesting-Turns-into-harvestable/td-p/9168505

@Sofia_101281 it's a bug, you can use the link I've posted as well, yours is the first issue on the link
@Omaira maybe this is where your report went ;)
  • @Camkat Thank you so much! I did click on the link and it's not the one I posted in but Crinrict mentions another one and that might be the one were I posted. Crinrict is merging the posts, I will search for it as I want to report that I think skill might have something to do with this bug. Though not quite sure yet. But thanks for your help!

I got it as well. Will start a new save without the mods for science so I can participate.

    Thanks for linking the threads!
  • I finally deleted all my played Sims gardens, (sigh). I'm still steamed on the Seasons update so that none of the plants in common areas ever mature now, Grr.

I'm sure there's a few threads about this happening right now, it seems like everyone has had some sort of issue with gardening, (myself included).

I've noticed it happen for sure when travelling. Not every time, but a lot of times when my sims get back from visiting another lot, the plants will be dirt clumps. Also, when the eco footprint changes seems to trigger dirt clumps for me too. I think the eco footprint part is supposed to be a feature, like industrial makes it harder for them to grow... and I would be fine with that if the footprint held still for more than 5 minutes so the plants could actually have time to adjust/regrow/whatever they need to do. They really need to get on fixing this.

Yeah, what's up with that? That used to be my 'go to' place to find certain fruits/vegetables. My Sims don't always start off rich enough to purchase seeds. :open_mouth:
  • I have this happening in my game also. I had the sage shrinking everytime I harvested, not too bad because it was back the next day, but my sim just watered a couple plants and they disappeared. Now I know it is a bug. No EL, no mods. Since seasons I never know if I have a bug or if it is intended. I am so upset with patches that break my game. I think the breaking started with Aliens.

I have to say I haven't had this problem until very recently.
  • Hi everyone and thank you all for keeping up with this an any other thread on this issues.
To report that as of yesterday plants are still bugged.
I have also filled a survey that I found in my travels around forums and EA site and ... lets say they did not get a good report, to put it mildly.
In the meantime, I am playing my faithful Sims 3. Just going to sims 4 to check if things have been sorted, if they don't within a period of time, I will probably uninstall the game and carry on as for the last eleven years, with my sims 3, because with all its problems, one thing is that there are no more patches to break it anymore and I don't have to worry about updating mods either! Bliss!!!
Shame really, I only started playing sims 4 around February and by July I have had more than enough. I would probably persevere with it if I liked it a bit more, but I don't, it's a pretty lame game.
This following bit is addressed to the developers and gurus so they can pass the message to EA just in case I have not said it before about a million times.
I own every EP, SP, World, and the whole of the store from the sims 3, I even gave some 1700 points out as gifting items to others because I had nothing else to buy. I got Everything for the sims 3, I even bought Katy Perry and Movie Stuff even though I never installed those packs, they are there in the pristine boxes they came in.
In comparison with the sims 4 I have probably a quarter of what is out, check it out for yourselves, and I am thinking of uninstalling the game, and install Medieval again, I did have loads more fun with that than with The sims 4. I am also looking to purchase the sims 2, It's difficult but achievable.
So EA, think about it, before you put the last nail in the Sims Franchise coffin, because I am by no means the only one, I am pretty "average" and as a company you should look into what "average" buys, it takes years, but eventually people pay their mortgages off, and become a bit better off, so they can afford to splurge in other things, you should try to keep those customers. They are valuable, believe me.
