Get to Work losing profit.

Wages are killing your profits. Do more of the work with your own sims where you can,use fewer staff and don't over-promote what hired staff that you do use. It makes no sense to promote them all to the highest pay if you aren't earning enough to pay them.

Just mho though, restaurant's stink for earning money.

Increase your markup if you can, I always set it to the maximum. Add more tables too, if you are regularly at capacity. That could help.

It's a small local Café in the Newcrest world. I only have 8 seats in it, would I need two chef's and two waiters in a café that small?

8 tables or 8 seats? I wouldn't think need more than 1 chef either way though. 1 Chef can handle more than 8 tables.

I'd keep 2 waiters if you meant 8 tables, even though 1 fully trained one could handle it, especially if you handle the dishes. If you really mean 8 seats...definitely get rid of one waiter.

I'd try to find a way to add more tables. Most visitors arrive in pairs, so try to squeeze in a few more 2-chair tables.

2 chefs and 2 waiters for 8 seats is overkill, especially since sims turn out in groups of at least 2. I have never seen a sim dining alone in an owned restaurant. So, if you have 2 tables and 8 seats, one chef and one waiter is enough as they take the order and deliver it at the same time.

Yah, with that size, I'd definitely go with just 1 chef and 1 waiter. And I'd add a few more tables.

You need to add more than two chairs to the tables, sims come in couples and as a family. So, if they come as a group of three or four you can seat them at the same table. You could also check your menu, see maybe you have too many cheap offers, so customers order them probably more often. Also, I am not seeing the waiter station, they help because they act like washing machines, waiters just deposit the dirty dishes there and they disappear.

I agree with @Crocobaura that you should have at least a few tables that seat 4. You absolutely don't need all tables to seat 4 though. Pairs are far more common than groups greater than 2, so if you only have 4 total tables, personally I'd suggest only having 2 which seat 3-4 people.

In all of my restaurants I never have more than about 1/3 to 1/2 of the total tables seat more than 2 people.

The wait station is also behind the double doors and the wait staff are regularly seen promptly clearing tables as every customer leaves.

I trimmed down the original number of seats because there were more people than seats and they often congregated around the host stand waiting for a table to become free. Now with this amount of tables it's easier for my sim to manage and still get out on time at 5pm.
