Getting the butler you want

This is a good solution. The game doesn't do a great job of insuring you always get the same butler, but once you edit all of the butlers that exist you're set, at least for a while.

Yeah I know that's happened. Personally, I've only had it happen once and most of my households. Maybe through editing the butler, he/she will stick around?

Ya I wish we could just choose the npcs it would be so useful and game wouldn't need to spam sims for the roles

I have an old link for it. Hasn't been updated in a few years though, so any service sim types from the last couple of years aren't in it. I use a mod for it now, so just have to click a few times rather than type all the codes.

So either create a Sim, or modify one. May as well give them all level 10 in the required skills if you intend them to be the main one everywhere.
For a butler, Cooking, Gourmet Cooking, Handiness, Gardening, and Charisma.

Then, in the cheat bar, put this code:
traits.equip_trait isButler
and
careers.add_career Butler

I don't really care what they look like, it's not important for me, they don't work any better whether they look good or not. I also don't care about their sex or age, they can be as old as they are. I wouldn't even want to make a butler of my own and I've never edited them in CAS. I just don't want kleptomaniac butlers, I don't want them to steal my Sims stuff. I always try to find out the butlers traits immediately when I hire her/him and if there's a klepto trait the butler gets fired.
I don't mind any other traits, they can be evil, mean, child haters or whatever else, I can deal with them, sometimes they can even create some funny moments. Klepto butlers are just a huge annoyance for me because I hate all kinds of rearranging things and I don't always even remember what's missing if I find an empty spot in the house. If I do remember and it was some personal object, for example painting etc. it's extra annoying. I like my own Sims to be kleptos, though. They're fun to play with, as long as it's my own Sim who does the stealing. :D

The problem is that elders spend too much time with back spasms and I always feel like they're gonna die tomorrow. Gender and such really aren't the issue either. I do agree with you about the traits though because I too don't want a klepto or lazy butler.

As for the cheats and mods mentioned above, I wanted a way to do it without them. Maybe I am one of a very short list of players who actually do not like nor want mods but just in case someone else out there actually feels the same way, here's a way to do it.

If you do like using cheats and mods, then good for you. Enjoy your game and I'm glad you enjoy it. I'm not trying to encourage or discourage the use of either. I just wanted people to know there is a way to do it without them.

I stand corrected. Bobby just got home from work and there's a new butler.

Okay so twice now, my butler was replaced. But I simply fired the new butler and called for the service again and both times I got my butler back. So maybe that's a thing? Also, Kyoshi called for the service and after the first time of losing him (I think) I made sure to build a friendship with him so that may be why they keep sending him back.
