Ghosthunter Career

It's a freelancer career, but you need a paranormal investigator licence for it to show up. The licence is a reward trait that you can either buy from the rewards store for 3,000 points, or be given for free by Guidry the ghost once you reach level 5 of the Medium skill.

Yep once you accept the Freelancer career and have a Paranormal Investigator Licence, you will have the option to accept Paranormal Investigator jobs whenever you like.

So I can cheat the reward store points, buy the license, and then it will show up when I go find a career? I don't want to do the whole Haunted House and talk to Guidry if I don't have to.

Since the licence is a reward trait, you could possibly also cheat it directly on your sim, but yeah, just get it in whichever way you prefer, then pick freelancer from the career list and choose the paranormal investigator agency. No living in a haunted house required. (In my experience, living in a haunted house and being a paranormal investigator causes bugs with the career, so you're even better off that way.)
