Goofball trait

I think it is kind of annoying that certain traits cause Sims to do certain actions a lot. I like the trait improvements, but I feel like the traits need to be balanced a little more, especially for Goofball and Neat Sims. I love that they act more like their traits, but I also want them to still be able to do other actions sometimes on their own too.

Whims Goofballs can get are:
-Tell a Joke
-Watch Comedy on TV
-Play a Social Prank
-Be Mischievous
-Make a Wish
-Cannonball Into Pool
-Chase a Bird Flock

I have a mean sim who was already terribly mean and hasn’t changed since the patch. Horrible father and turned the whole household against each other. So idk if you guys main play a mean sim as often as I do but mean sims have always been mean. The only thing added was the punch a stuffed animal obsessively and that’s it. I turned off that autonomy with the mod said above me.

And to anybody who says they’re happy with constant toilet pranking. You’re not gonna be happy repairing a toilet a million times.

It honestly really excites me that goofball sims use a lot of autonomous mischief interactions. I've rare ever used that trait since I felt it never did much. But I've been working on recreating Loki as a Sim (based on his Marvel counterpart) and the goofball trait might actually really suit him now.

I'm used to a lot of mischief in general in my game cause I have the Personality Please mod and it makes all sims do it a lot. It's one of the reasons why I keep occasionally removing the mod. Like it's fine for Goofballs to do it, it's expected but not all sims.

I think any trait that completely takes over sim behavior is bad. Constant obsessive cleaning isn't just "neat". It's OCD. And goofball "was" one one my favorite traits before they ruined it with them pranking toilets all the time. To me a goofball likes to be silly and make other people laugh. Pranksters make themselves laugh at others expense. Honestly, I think it should have been its own trait. So, yes I've removed them from my game. I'm starting a new game in a completely empty world I have saved. Well, it has houses and venues but no sims. MCCC will populate it with sims I've saved in my library. Should be interesting to see how this goes.

Neat is the opposite of slob. Neat is supposed to be obsessed with cleaning. Why give them the neat trait if you don't want them to be neat? That's the whole point of the trait.

They are neat freaks, they are going to obsessed with cleaning and won't stand living in any filth. It's the opposite of a slob, which is messy and doesn't mind living in filth.

Most people fall in the middle of these two, which would be no trait, just the average sim.

If one of your main three defining personality traits is neat, you are going to be a neat freak.

I mean, I always assumed neat meant "neat freak" as well. Which is the exact reason that I never used that trait except for a "filler." Or if randomized townies got it. And even then, I usually remove it unless it fits the Sims' personality. So to me, neat actually works the way I always imagined it.

And I like what's been done with Goofball. It makes me want to hurry up with setting up a save and playing with Loki sim so I can experience it in its full glory.

What we have now is far too Extreme. Just because you're a Goofball, doesnt mean you're a mean prankster. I'm playful myself, but I'm not going to go around pranking toliets and just being a downright nuisance. That is exactly what the trait has become. Goofball should enjoy telling jokes, making those around them laugh perhaps more so than others. But that doesnt mean they have to do it constantly. You're just a vicious prankster or a meaniehead if you're constantly mischievous. If this is going to remain as-it-is you'll have to think of traits now as not characteristics that give you better moodlets by doing certain interactions but more.. what are the Extreme's of this Sim. And for Aliens the Goofball trait is horrendous. Going around Memory Wiping constantly? Going out in town if there is one on the lot you're on.. they will memory wipe all sorts of people and soon who will they have a relationship status with? Nobody? What's the point? You might as well give that sort of Alien Sim the Loner Trait too since they wont have any relationship status with anyone. I see some in this thread like it for creating noticeable differences in their Sims. Perhaps for that crowd have a slider that allows the traits to be on the Extreme end of the spectrum where that becomes so noticeable but still being able to tone it back so it's not a constant in-your-face trait kind of thing we've been given now.

Well, that explains the trouble I've been having with pranked toilets.

I took out the Personality Please mod tonight and played with a Goofball sim and didn't find it that bad. I never once saw him prank the toilet and I played with his family for quite a few sim days. He was playful a lot but I didn't really see that as an issue.
