I don't like random townsfolk cluttering up my town with their mismatched outfits and random randomness.The first thing I did in Sims 4 is add a bunch of my own sims and deleted any families I did not like with the Manage Towns mode. I still saw only random townies when I went to any public lot, so I checked to see what townies were created and saw mostly old people and single mothers with a teen and a child. I figured that there needed to be enough people of each age category so I made big families filled with old people, kids, teens, and adults. That seemed to work for a bit, but now I still get single sims added over time.I think I figured out who the new guys are in my game. When I call a maid the game adds the maid to the neighborhood and it seems I keep getting different maids visiting my house, so they start building up around town. Some of the new guys were also showing up as bartenders, but I think I can get rid of them by having more of my custom sims skill up in mixology. I have one sim that is in the restaurant career and she shows up as a bartender (along with Bob Pancake) when I'm playing other households. I've never had one of my custom sims show up as a maid, so I think I'm out of luck there.Did anyone have a good way to keep the number of random townies down? I'm thinking of not using maid service and/or deleting the maids that I don't like till I get ones I can stand to look at.

The game NEVER pulls from the ones I've made and instead just keeps making new ones.

There is "Reduced Townie Generating" by Shimrod on MTS. It will only generate townies needed for services.

Never happy are you ... people complained that Sims 3 cities was so empty now EA fills the city for you and complain that there is to many :D

I also never had empty towns in Sims 3 and was able to control the population. I just want to be able to control the population and to have what was promised. We were told that we would be able to fill the unplayed bin up with our own creations and the game would use them. The game is rarely using them and instead is constantly making even more random townies.

I've started writing down the names of the townies that I don't hate the look of and labeled them in my World Management screen. Then I delete all the weirdos that I don't want and hope for better luck next time. Since we can edit the townies outfits in create a sim we can at least fix the guys who are wearing deaths robes and a hat of shame walking around town. I'll look up the guru thread to see what other info we have.Thanks.

My number of townies is still growing. I noticed that pizza guys and entertainers are also added to the world and I'm guessing caterers will also get added to the world. I'm wondering if there is maximum number of people in the world and my missing custom sims may be pushed out to add more ugly maids.

I read one of the Guru's comments on this. The way I understand it is, if the town needs say a bar tender sim, it will create one to fill that position as needed. So even if you have say 12 townies already, if they don't have the mixology trait then it automatically creates a new townie on the fly increasing the number of townies. Anyway, I know that doesn't help but you may want to read the guru threads on this.

I have some problem in townies. I create my own and put them in the "not in this world". But later I found that the system will del my townies and they just keep the one they create. It's so scary :0

It has worked for me so far. Do you have script mods enabled? Is it zipped or unzipped? Did you create the "unpackedmod" folder and followed the resource.cfg instructions to a t?

Problem is the mod doesn't work properly. I installed it, the game showed it was properly set up but my game still created 27 townies in 3 days.

Same here, it does not work in my game. It actually created more Sims than without it. I did follow the directions to a T including editing the resource file. I have other script mods that work, this one did not. Reading through the comments at MTS, it seems to not work on some games and I'm not sure why.

It worked for the first Sim week and then in the second? Population explosion.

I really hope they address this (EA) because it's so annoying.

Not true.

Yea, that's what I've been seeing too. I've started writing down the names of the townies that I don't hate the look of and labeled them in my World Management screen.
