Since firefighters have been recently introduced into the Sims4, has anyone else noticed an increase in spontaneous outbreaks of fire? I ask because yesterday in the very same household I had two. A few Sim-weeks ago I had one, also, same household.The thing that gets me about it is my Sim has upgraded every single fireplace in the house to avoid that very thing. Now, the dryer. Well, if your Sim can't recall they should clean out the lint before they hit dry, I'm usually on the lookout. And I'll queue it up for them to do it. So, can anyone, please, tell me what's up with Aaron and his penchant for setting himself on fire?Is it just that the number of incidences has increased (random?) or what?I have to take a moment to vent. I have done my best to locate the fire when I get the message, and on the second fire in the same game (might even have happened within moments of each other) I delayed calling the firefighters, long enough to make certain my Sim was going to be okay. So far in my game, they arrive notoriously late and then chastise the 'prankster'. It was my intent to see if for once help would be timely. But, I had to intercede before Aaron became history, as they say. So, needless to say, I never called the fire department. I thought so the first week after the Firefighters were reintroduced, but I must admit I saw no kitchen or BBQ fire in quite some time in my game. Might have been 1 fire from playing about 50 simdays, so I don't think it's a lot.

That makes me super happy. Finally with the safety net of firefighters, fires happen again. Still safe for Sims standards but then again house fires were one of my favorite things in the Sims games.

It's particularly disconcerting to me since one of the two fires in my game that day was the fireplace. Like I stated above, I made a point of having the Dad upgrade every fireplace to Fireproof. I lost my singer Sim when he was but a rising star in Sims3 to a fireplace fire, back in the day. One of the very first random deaths of one of my own Sims. Ever since then, I have made a point to have a skilled Sim upgrade each and every fireplace on the lot. (The one time I forgot the fireplace out in the backyard, cost my Sim in Sims4 to lose his Stan.) Erik was horribly upset, inconsolable. I blogged about it. He was a wreck. Almost gave up his singing career.

I don't know about random, but I did see an uptick. Prior to the update I had three fires. Three in the entire 1000 some hours I played.After the update, three in first playthrough. To be fair, two were because of the bugged/poorly balanced bombadier beetles before I realized how fussy they were. So it is technically possible for this to be coincidental, but it seems odd to me. Plus we do know that some of the eco upgrades increases fire chances, such as compostable toilets.This being said, those three fires prior to the update felt pretty devastating. Twice I just had to watch as fires raged while my sims were bugged out. I couldn't do a thing with the fire restrictions. Now, it feels much safer.

I’m not sure. My Sims’ only source of fire is one of the bonfires (I think the one from OR) and it catches on fire if a Sim adds a log to an already substantial fire. I just assumed it was because it’s a low quality bonfire but it does keep happening.

I have noticed my level 1 cooking sims have more fires, so now they only allowed fruit salad, salad and sandwiches until they at least level 3 cooking :D LOL

For me, after the updates for EL, it's grown worse.

I noticed that there are more fires but they seem to fizzle out quickly and not spread too far. In fact, I installed a mod to make the fires more intense. :D I can't get enough of that exploding toilet upgrade. ;)

Yeah, the toilet is the bomb, litterally! Two days in a row a fire started when my little boy was getting ready in the morning. He was reallynot in the mood for school those days. Needless to say, we got new toilets.

Apparently, the upgraded fireplace catching/spreading fire is a bug that shows its ugly head from time to time, it seems, all the way back to 2014. Somewhat current thread here . They've been asking for saves since March, don't know if they still need them.
