Has your Sim ever changed their name?

I've often changed names after playing a sim for a while.

I struggle with picking my sims names so more often than not i just name them "first name" first :lol: and then change it when they toddlers

that aside i also sometimes choose names which i then keep confusing like did i name this sim annabeth or annabelle or did i name this sim victoria or veronica or something

I gave one of my sims a nickname once and replaced the original name - it wasn’t a totally new name, but yeah, they just didn’t seem like an ‘Arthur’ anymore, more of an ‘Artie’. ? Now, homeless townies? I change their names all the time, lol. I try to keep the same ethnicity if applicable, but just make it something shorter and simpler.

Nicknames. Trans sims. Toddlers, if they were born with a randomized name when I was away from the family. And one sim might just start using a gaming handle as her regular name, we'll see.
However, yours is clearly a Lindsay if she's doing that to you :)

I haven’t changed anyone’s first name, but I did change a family’s surname once. Not the same thing of course!

Sometimes, but mostly just to give them nicknames and then they just keep going by the nickname. For instance my current challenge Sim's wife is named Alessandra (French) Conrad, but she goes by Sandy. I got her from the Gallery. Their son, Cale Jr., used to go by Junior, but now that he's older, he prefers to be called CJ.

My challenge Sim from last year started out named Tessa Tyler. But that wasn't her real name, she was in a witness protection program. Over the months her name changed from Tessa Tyler to Vanessa Varela and finally her real name, Essa Ellington. Well, she's Essa Hunter now since she married. Essa got that name from a suggestion by one of the Simmers doing the challenge. She said it meant 'star' which fit perfectly for my Sim and her story.

My Drifter founder started out with the name Elle McDonough, but I accidentally failed the first time I tried it by letting her marry one of my Super Sims. Not really cheating, but I didn't feel right about it. So I started over using the same founder, but called her Ella instead.

Then there's the case of my Hunter Brothers; Joel, my first Super Sim and the oldest, Josh, his brother I made from cloning Joel and then changing Josh a little bit, he's a Super Sim too I used for the Asylum Challenge and in my own challenge last year, and Jon, the youngest brother. He started out as a Sim from the Gallery named Alex Hastings. I modified him for a challenge here on the forum and that's how he was renamed and ultimately became the baby brother of my Super Sims.

Lastly, I've changed a bunch of game generated Sims' names because I couldn't pronounce their given names. But I only bother to do that if they mean something to the Sim(s) I'm currently playing in a save. Or, if they were a Sim generated for a role, such as a Mail Carrier, Gym Trainer, etc. and I liked them so much I wanted to keep them for one of my custom template saves to do those roles. Usually they need a makeover which sometimes includes a new name.

I think those are the only incidences where I've changed the names of my Sims, but I've had so many over the years, I suppose there could've been more. :D Great topic OP!

I've had a few adoptees have their surnames change, and married couples too. From the way the first post was phrased, though, do you mean that a Sim is acting more like a "Richard" rather than a "Dewey" ? Like the behaviour of the Sim is contradictory to how they -should- be acting.
If that's the case, I can't say I have had that happen to me.

I have renamed numerous Townie Sims, but that was when they had that bug where they all had (Indian or Japanese?) influenced names, but looked like they had just walked off a beach near Sydney.

I've done that many times where I wasn't completely feeling the name I picked out for them.

Yes, I've changed first and last names. Usually it's because when I have played that sim for a while I suddenly start thinking of them with a different name, as the OP mentioned. If it sticks then I change their name. After a while I usually can't even remember the original name.

I've changed my main favourites names twice before. First was years ago on a complete different Sims game when I had my Sim go through a bit of a transition from their old deadname and looks, and then once again when I realised with all the fires they've lighted there was room for the shortened name to create a bit of a pun on the last name. Plus with the longer name not sounding as good I had to go through with it.

I don't think I change many other Sims names except last names in marriage since all of them are perfect as they are, unless I make minor edits to -sons -tons and -lyns.
