Help! How to get natural, even colored lighting and not rainbow of colors?

So I have an issue that is driving me nuts, i've noticed this trend of random indoor colored lighting (despite using base white lighting) where each room appears to have its own tone or the screenshot is just completely dulled out indoors.

So for example I'm posting these 3 images, all share the same apartment taken under normal non-modded gameplay, ultra settings.

The first image is taken at night and looks the most normal. I THINK its because it is night and makes everything pop more like it does outside?

Second image is during the day and is too blue and dull.

Last image is in the ajoining bedroom which u can see in the first image (at the bottom) and was yellowish there, but during the day its green as grass.

Meanwhile outside its totally fine.

Is there any way to fix this? Somebody mentioned reshade to me, but I tried that and WHILE it does make a difference outside it actually amplifies colors inside. That green wall is now REALLY green. It almost seems that reshade just makes the colors pop more (takes the dull away) but it doesn't really resolve the issue of the green room, ect.

This seems to be a game level/code base issue and I'm wondering if there is a game-based way to fix it? Especially since the colors of the rooms look normal during the night/first screenshot making me think something is amplifying these colors during the day and washing them out?

Is the solution using all white wall paper? Avoiding certain colors? Suggestions? I also tried the noblu mod but that just made everything really brown looking.

  • I usually change the color of the lights to "Cold". It will give it a more fluorescent feel and you won't see the greenish tone so much. That being said, it won't look so natural? I don't know. But at least it looks more consistent. I'll see if I can find any screenshots of my sim's house indoors and post them here.

Here's an example during day time:

But I think it will look more whitish at night time especially if you use a bunch of ceiling lights.
  • Idk I feel lots of the pastels and light woods look bit dead in the game so I tend to just give my sims darker houses with darker woods and darker walls and avoid using ceiling lights in my builds because those often give off way too much light

also you might benefit from some curtains if the outside light seems to wash it all out not sure

+ if you changed your whole apartments lights to white after putting them I'd say try and take out all of those lamps and place them again not changing the color because 1. you can't get their original light color and dimness back otherwise and 2. it could help if all lights are not same color and dimness since that might make lights appear very flatout weird
  • Hmm, I tend to avoid cool and pastel colors on walls and furniture. I find that using plenty of windows is good for lighting. In a house I built myself, I use white or tan on the walls and wooden floor. Lights can be color changed - go for the warm tones. Pay attention to how many lights you put in a room as well. Ceiling height is affecting the lighting quality too - you have tall walls, you need lower hanging ceiling lights. Finally, indoor lighting also seems affected by neighborhood and season.
  • In live mode you can change the tone and intensity of all the lighting by clicking on just one of the lights. You can adjust that particular light, an entire room, or the entire house on just one light. I wish it could be done in build mode though.
  • I actually like how it changes during the day and night. And now that I have "Seasons", it's even more fascinating. Originally I ended up putting too many lights all over the place. But recently have been taking many down (deleting/selling). Often putting in wall lights or floor lamps or table/shelf lamps. To modify it more, adjusting the intensity and colors in a mix. It's quite a process figuring out where and how many lights to put up. If you want them to never change indoors, get rid of all windows and doors with windows. Then it never changes (unless you have stairs to another floor with windows or an open area outside).
