Help me solve this mystery.....

Okay fellow simmers. I have a mystery that I know someone here can help me solve. And, let me tell ya... it's got my brain twisted. It's a big set up, so please bare with me....

I'm playing my drifter save. The save has been around for 68 sim weeks. My newest heir just moved into his own lot and he went straight to the gym to work out.

He ended up meeting a girl there. I checked her age with MCCC and it said 0/24 Young Adult. So they worked out together. They hit it off, went to eat at the restaurant and she moved in that night.

Thus begins the mystery.

She brings in over 1,000,000. Okay. Fair enough. She, or rather an ancestor, probably won the lottery. I haven't had the lottery in a while, but, I'm on generation 10 of this save, so that money could have been hanging around for a while.

I can't control her, but I do look and she's a level 2 detective. Okay, interesting.

That night, my sim gets the phone call that his dad passed away. The next day, after she comes home from work, I notice she had the sad moodlet. I thought that was strange, as she never met Dad. So I looked...

It said, sad from losing a child...

Wait... What? She's a young adult, and there were no kids in the household...

So I finally look at her family tree.. And the mystery deepens....

She has three children (not step children. Her children). All passed away from old age, and a teen grandson.

So, the question remains... how does she have three deceased, elder children while she's a young adult herself?

Oh, she is now on day 1/24, I checked with Sims Info, aging is set to auto, death is enabled. She is now definitely aging. She's even gotten one day older. She isn't a vampire.

Is it possible that being a level 2 detective had her marked as immortal?

But during this save I've never played a detective, so I have no idea why the game generated her to being with.

I can show her family tree if anyone is interested. But could someone shed some light on this mystery?

  • There are certain hidden NPC traits that can make a sim immortal. Moving them in or playing with them would then remove those traits, allowing them to age again.
  • I just checked the Detective profession on Sims Wiki and it did not mention a Sim becoming immortal at all. She may have had the three kids from another marriage/relationship before she met your Sim if she is an NPC thanks to MCCC. I haven't used it but I have heard it do some strange things in this game.

It has to be something like that, but I'm not seeing what it is.

She did have the 3 kids before she met my sim. Their family tree is very.... in depth. They died of old age. The grandson is a teenager. I'm not trying to figure out where the kids came from. I'm trying to figure out how an YA, at the beginning of their YA stage, HAS three passed on, elder kids and one teen grandson (at her age and why she only started aging).

being a detective doesn't mark a sim for immortality, but being the criminal summoned by an apb does (it gives a hidden trait, as do the other immortality ones that aren't for vampires). when you moved her to the house as a played sim, though, she might have lost that hidden trait. but you can double check on the hidden traits list for her with showsiminfo. if it is still around and grants immortality, it'll say it does so (aging off, death off) right beneath the trait

made a list of the traits that do this in another thread, but trying to remember which it was... been a while...

    editing to say:
what i do recall are 'weirdo' sims from san myshuno (the ones that like to wear bathing suits and hats or raccoon suits), the aforementioned detective criminals (they get deleted if caught on an apb, but stick around as a hidden household if you arrest the wrong sim), some food stall vendors and some service npcs have death disabled, as well as aging. there's a larger list that just has aging disabled

I wouldn't have a criminal summoned cause I haven't played the detective career in this save. I did look around Sims Info and no hidden traits are showing. I think you and Cupid are right. I think it was a hidden trait that dropped when she moved in. Maybe like busker. Aging is enabled, Death in enabled. I checked all that with Sims Info. She is - as of this moment - a 100% normal sim. So it has to be she was a busker or another trait that dropped.

Also, since you're using MCCC, it allowed her to have kids even though she was not aging herself. The only question is which hidden trait did she have.
