- simsimsereNew AdventurerMy seasons are currently two week long. If I made them 4 week long I might add some more holidays. For now I have:
- The year starts with Llamasquarade. This is my quirky version of love day. It has trick or treat, wear costumes, romantic spirit, go on a date and give flowers as traditions. Some sims love the costume part, but others just want to get a date. Teens have a chance to meet new sims when trick or treaters come to their door.
- It's followed by Founder's Birthday. The traditions are gardening, egg hunt, thankful spirit, attend holiday ceremony and light a menorah. It's quite an earnest holiday to celebrate the founder sim that some of my sims believe in.
- Next is Midsummerfest with bar-b-que, drinking, go on a vacation, fire and streaking. Sims generally like to spend this holiday at Granite Falls, but Windenburg is an acceptable alternative.
- In the beginning of the fall comes Gnome Follower's Day. It is believed that the Founder Sim was so charismatic that even the garden gnomes followed him. This day is to honour those gnomes with fasting, telling stories, art and music spirit, grand meal and holiday gnomes. If you don't belive in Founder Sim you might go with kicking the gnomes instead.
- After that comes Bunny Remembrance Day to commemorate the first freezer bunny that went to the space and made contact with the aliens. This holiday has exercise, make resolutions, spooky spirit, festive lighting and flower bunny as traditions. It's about the bravery to face things that you're not familiar with.
- Then comes Spirit of the Plumbob which includes decorate, give gifts, festive spirit, grand meal and remembrance. It's a chance to spend time with your family and also reunite with those you've lost.
- Finally we have New Year's Eve with cleaning, fireworks, party spirit, countdown to midnight and father winter. This holiday is mostly about partying, but there's also a chance to get presents.
I haven't played through all of the holidays yet, so I'm not sure how all the traditions work together. I'm prepared to make some changes, but hopefully don't have to make too many. - The year starts with Llamasquarade. This is my quirky version of love day. Christmas Day - Self Explanatory
New Years Eve Count down to Midnight and do it all again.
How do you get a corn/wheat maze? I don't see that as an option in my game... What about the music festival?
its not there yet but I'm hoping I can develop it into that. The music festival is just a gathering at a Celebrities Mansion I built, i can't get live music but putting a DJ Booth and stereos around seems like a fun way to do it till then.
I don't allow the lack of game content dictate what I can and can't do. I work with what I can do and hope I can do it later.- Haven't done it yet, but I plan to have a Gnome-Kicking holiday. Mischief spirit, air grievances, gnomes. Maybe invite guests, so they can help kick the gnomes, hah!
- I made Sunsanity Day! It's a day at the end of summer in which you're encouraged to let your freak flag fly! Wear your craziest costume, go streaking, bbq and drink to your heart's content and PARTY HARD!
I actually wish there was a real holiday like this, so I was super excited to make it in-game right away (well, maybe not the streaking part...) - OEII1001New SpectatorUsing a 28-day cycle per season, I've implemented the following beginning with the start of the year according to the calendar at Spring 1st --
2nd of Spring, Founder's Day -- The SimNation version of a national founding day. It is meant to coincide approximately with the release of The Sims in North America on February 4th, 2000. It appears earlier than intended due to holiday spacing issues. Functions as both a nation founding day and a New Year's celebration. Seemed appropriate. Traditions: Appreciate an Object, Tell Stories, Thankful Spirit, Give Gifts, Fireworks.
6th of Spring, Lupercalia -- It's St. Valentines Day, but the Roman name is more interesting than 'Love Day'. Traditions: Romantic Spirit, Go on a Date, Give Flowers.
15th of Spring, Rite of Spring -- It's Easter, but Christianity doesn't exist in this universe so I went with Stravinsky. Traditions: Egg Hunt, Flower Bunny, Gardening.
4th of Summer, Summer's Height -- A combination of summer solstice and 4th of July traditions marking the unofficial start of the summer season. Traditions: Bar-B-Que, Art and Music Spirit, Party Spirit, Water Fun, Fireworks.
23rd of Summer, Summer's End -- The SimNation version of the US's Labor Day, marking the unofficial end of summer. Traditions: Bar-B-Que, Art and Music Spirit, Party Spirit, Water Fun, Fireworks.
7th of Autumn, Brewfest -- It's Oktoberfest. Traditions: Bar-B-Que, Drinking, Arts and Music Spirit.
13th of Autumn, Samhain -- The Celtic name is cooler than Spooky Day. Where else would you put Halloween other than on Friday the 13th? Traditions: Wear Costumes, Spooky Spirit, Trick-or-Treat.
26th of Autumn, Harvest Day -- Corresponds with the US's Thanksgiving. No Plymouth Colony or American Civil War, and changed the name to not sound so much like Brewfest. Also, gnome appeasement. Traditions: Decorate, Grand Meal, Thankful Spirit, Holiday Gnomes.
8th of Winter, Vampirnacht -- It's the winter solstice, but for the undead to reflect on their 'turning'. There's even a special lot I built for them to light a bonfire and reflect on the 'gift' of vampirism. Traditions: Appreciate an Object, Fire, Spooky Spirit, Tell Stories, Give Gifts.
18th of Winter, Yule -- It's, well, Yule. Renamed because I felt there are too many days ending in -fest. Now there is only one. Traditions: Decorate, Festive Spirit, Father Winter, Grand Meal, Open Presents.
28th of Winter, New Year's Eve -- The final day of the Sims universe calendar. Traditions: Decorate, Party Spirit, Countdown to Midnight, Make Resolutions.
The above makes for a good spacing of holidays, providing for both ample celebrations and enough non-holidays in between to make for enough down time to make those holidays feel significant. - ldm2New SpectatorI added Halloween & Spring Fest, which is basically Easter & Valentine's Day combined, Then I made the whole week of summer summer vacation, added 2 extra days off in winter for winter vacation & a one day spring & fall break. My sims now only go to work or school about 8 days in a 4 week cycle. B)
- mikamakimonNew SpectatorI have my seasons set on four weeks so I can space out my holidays. I don't have any unique holidays, but winter fest is a three day holiday in my game (Xmas Eve, Xmas, Boxing day), and I created long weekend holidays scattered throughout the seasons (for camping, travel, etc) so I won't have to worry too much about taking their vacation time from work
- I made a holiday called Treat Sweet Sims Day.
Its all about baking all morning. Then you invite other sims over to eat everything you've baked and at the end of the day you gift them cakes, cookies and cupcakes.

https://i.imgur.com/Hgesb5A.jpg - amapola76Seasoned HotshotIn addition to all of the premade holidays, I added:
Easter (Flower Bunny Fest): flower bunny, grand meal, holiday ceremony, hunt for eggs. (early spring? I can't remember which day)
Parents Day: give flowers, give gifts, grand meal, holiday ceremony. Late spring
Farmer's Market Day: gnomes, gardening. Beginning of summer
Summer Cookout: BBQ, fireworks, water balloons, watch sports, invite guests. Sort of a hybrid of the 4th of July and Labor Day, on the last day of summer.p
Halloween (Spooky Fest): costumes, trick or treating, decorate... I can't remember what else I added, but probably invite guests. Mid-fall.
Hiking Day: travel, fire, bbq, tell stories. Last day of fall. I take the household to Granite Falls (or potentially the jungle).
WinterFest Eve: bake, decorate, tell stories, holiday lighting, holiday spirit. The night before WinterFest, of course.
I love so many of the creative ideas I've seen in this forum, and I'd like to add a few more holidays, but I'm struggling with this: I was planning to switch to two weeks per season, but when I tested it out, all of my holidays ended up scrunched into one season, which is not helpful. So here are my questions:
(1) Is there a way to keep an existing holiday exactly as it is, but edit it to solely change the day? I couldn't find a way, and I'm guessing the answer is no, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask.
(2) If not, it's easy enough to delete the ones I made and recreate them, but I'm worried about the premade holidays. I don't want to screw up, say, Winterfest or New Year's Eve. Has anyone here changed the season length and recreated the original holidays? Have you experienced any glitches when doing so, or do you have any recommendations to avoid problems with doing so? - paigeisin5New SpectatorI have done Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, Thanksgiving, Easter, May The Fourth Be With You ( Or Star Wars Day with costumes), Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Superbowl Sunday, Football Night, Movie Night, Baking Day where my Sims load up their inventories with baked goods and give everything to townies as gifts, Valentine's Day, Friend Day, Friends and Family Dinner, Family Reunions, Summer Skate Fun, Winter Skating Date Night, Parents Day, Flower Day, BBQ and Swim Day, and several more.
@Amapola76 I switched from seven day long seasons to 28 and just moved the holidays to where I wanted them to be. And, no, I did not experience any glitches when I did. Neighborhood Brawl is the only one I have not celebrated yet. Every time it pops up I have deleted it. So far. LOL I am going to celebrate it someday, though. I want to have one of my Sims develop a bad relationship with a townie then let them duke it out. The random holidays that pop up are just there if you want them to be, and you can edit, move or delete anything without worrying you're going to cause a problem with your game.
